Stale seedbeds ready? Test the water before you fill the sprayer.

With autumn cereal drilling approaching, glyphosate applications are coming up on many farms.

But when it comes to water quality and glyphosate, are we testing the right thing?

💧 Water hardness - not simply pH - is the issue to focus on with glyphosate.

Calcium, magnesium and other positively charged minerals in hard water can bind with negatively charged glyphosate in the spray tank, reducing the amount of active available for uptake by the w**d.

And simply lowering pH doesn't remove those cations.

Before glyphosate goes in:
1️⃣ Test your water hardness
2️⃣ Condition the water first
3️⃣ Dose the conditioner according to hardness

🐌 Dry doesn't mean gone.

After months of dry conditions, some areas are finally starting to see rain - and that could quickly change the picture for slug activity.

Slugs can survive dry periods in soil cracks, beneath residues and other protected areas, waiting for moisture to return.

With autumn crops going in, now's the time to start looking - not waiting for damage to appear.
