Next up is Noradrenaline, which is chemically very similar to Dopamine. In treatment we have seen improvements in how our clients manage tasks or workload more effectively whether it be in the workplace, at Uni, or day to day life running a house! We also see a reduction in how someone may have previously been quick to temper or react.

Brain imaging has shown how this complex neural network can implicate the ability to focus and concentrate for someone with ADHD.
Most people can switch off their daydreaming state to allow them focus, but it's much harder for an ADHD brain to do this, hence being easily distracted.
Can anything help? Aside from medication, studies have shown that the task needs to be sufficiently interesting in order to help switch the DNM off.

Let's bust a myth! It's not that we are unable to focus and sustain attention, it's about our ability to regulate and direct it. Many of us can find ourselves losing large chunks of time hyperfocused on subjects completely unrelated to the task we initially set out to achieve.
This is important to understand as it can lead to the misconception of laziness and cause tension in relationships, or difficulties in the workplace.

Call for Participants!

This study aims to explore the lived experiences of individuals with ADHD and Anorexia, examining how these conditions interact and influence development, maintenance, and treatment experiences. Using qualitative, semi-structured interviews and reflexive thematic analysis, the research seeks to identify patterns in experience and inform more inclusive, neurodevelopmentally-informed eating disorder services.

Bitesize – Types of ADHD

When you are diagnosed with ADHD it will be under one of three subtypes.

• Predominently inattentive
• Predominently hyperactive/impulsive
• Combined - when you meet the ctiteria for both inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive.

Being diagnosed with predominently inattentive type doesn’t mean that you don’t experience any symptoms of hyperactivity/impulsivity. What it means is the diagnostic criteria has been met for inattentive type, but not quite met on the hyperactive/impulsive side.

A diagnosis of predominently hyperactive/impulsive type is a lot less common in adulthood than in childhood, but when these symptoms are experienced, it can be just as difficult to manage in day to day life.

Combined type is the most commonly diagnosed in adulthood and means exactly what it says, in that the diagnostic criteria has been met for both inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive types.
