A small everyday ritual with a lot of depth: sesame oil ✨
In Ayurveda, sesame oil is traditionally used in Abhyanga, the practice of self-massage with warm oil, a simple way to support both body and mind in returning to balance.
What makes sesame oil so special is not just how nourishing it feels, but its natural ability to cleanse and protect the skin. It’s rich in antioxidants and is believed to help draw out impurities while also forming a protective, deeply moisturising layer on the skin.
It’s also incredibly grounding, warming the body, supporting circulation and helping calm the nervous system when life feels busy or overwhelming.
A simple way to try Abhyanga at home: Warm a little sesame oil in your hands and massage it into your body before a shower or bath. Use long strokes on the limbs and circular movements around the joints and belly. Leave it on for 5–10 minutes if you can, letting the warmth soak in before washing off.
It doesn’t have to be complicated, sometimes a few mindful minutes of touch and warmth can be enough to shift how you feel.
A small reminder that care doesn’t always need to be big to be powerful 💛
