Here at Namaste Barn, we have plenty of workshops and retreat days to look forward to this year, as well as our weekly yoga classes.

These are wonderful opportunities to go a little deeper with your practice, and offer longer yoga, meditation and relaxation sessions.

Several experienced yoga teachers will be holding day retreats in our beautiful studio in the coming months, and we have a residential retreat with Norman and Maitripushpa in August.

We are located five minutes from Newton Abbot, just outside Exeter, and our beautiful location provides the perfect combination of practicality and indulgence, with beautiful views, free parking and all the equipment you need.

Spending time in nature helps to regulate our nervous system, lower our cortisol levels and help us to relax. This should be a daily essential, whether you are taking a walk, standing barefoot on the ground or simply sitting in the sunshine for a couple of minutes each morning.

This quote by John Muir reminds us of the importance of our connection with nature, nourishing ourselves by spending time in our natural habitat.

Today, give yourself a few minutes - even if you have a busy day - to unplug and reconnect with the world around you. Breathe deeply and enjoy the peace that only nature can bring.

Recently, I've ben thinking about the small things we can change to make a big difference in our lives - and perhaps the most important one of these is the way we treat ourselves.

Today, show yourself some kindness and love in a way that resonates for you. Could you speak kindly to yourself every time you pass a mirror? Gently stroke down your arms with the alternate hands to regulate your breathing and benefit from the calming beta waves?

Whatever you do, do it for yourself, because you are worthy of care. Looking after ourselves gives us the chance to build our resources and this means we have more to give to others and to the world around us. Small changes can have a big effect!

There are several different types of yoga, and many of these stem from different traditions. Yin Yoga is a slow, intense practice that enables you to find your comfortable edge and lean into it, and it uses plenty of props to ensure that every posture is accessible to everyone.

Hatha Yoga focuses on postures (asanas) and breathwork (pranayama), while Iyengar is a more precise discipline with attention to alignment and detailed instruction.

At Namaste Barn, we have weekly classes in Neurogenic Yoga with TRE, as well as Yin Yoga, and we have a selection of workshops and retreats available throughout the year.

It's 1st June! Summer is really here - whether it's warm and sunny or a little grey outside. It's the perfect time for a visit to Namaste Barn, and we love to share this magical place with our visitors.

We have a schedule of weekly yoga classes, as well as workshops and retreats, and we have two lovely Airbnb properties so you can stay and enjoy the atmosphere!

Our cabin sleeps up to six (sorry no children under 12), and is a wonderful space to relax and call home while you explore the area. We are close to the sea and to Dartmoor, and the city of Exeter is just a few miles away.

The gardens and land at Namaste Barn spread over 5.5 acres, and guests are welcome to enjoy the garden and the fire pit. The Cabin also has its own decking veranda, which is the perfect spot for morning coffee!

The brick built larch clad Cabin is finished to a high standard, inviting you to have a cosy and comfortable stay. The beds are deliciously comfortable and we provide refreshing toiletries for you to pamper yourselves and thick soft cotton towels for a little luxury.

We also have a two bedroom Airbnb, The Stable, which sleeps 4.

Sometimes people are put off trying yoga because they are worried that they will 'get it wrong'. Perhaps this is a worry that they will not be flexible enough or that they will not be able to hold postures correctly.

But it's impossible to get yoga wrong. It's not about making a certain shape with your body or being able to touch your toes, it's about tuning in to how your body feels and learning to connect with your breath.

Everyone will approach the same posture in a different way, and props can be used to make it more accessible for everyone. Whether you lift your leg higher or bend your arms more deeply, the focus is on connecting with your breath and finding the peace you need. Yoga is for everyone, and you are always welcome at Namaste Barn.

This year, I've been focusing on small things that can change our whole lives. Taking simple steps can reduce our stress levels and help us to resource ourselves better.

Today, I'm thinking about making the most of the beautiful weather we've had lately. Just a few minutes of sunshine on our skin can benefit us in many ways, providing vitamin D, stimulating the release of seratonin and endorphins, boosting mental and physical health.

Small changes that help us to focus on our wellbeing can make all the difference to the way we live. Rather than trying to change our lifestyles all at once, introducing small changes enables real, sustainable progress on our pathway.

TRE is a somatic therapy that teaches us to access our innate body wisdom.

We learn to work with the body to process and release stored trauma and tension, and this means we can move past the trauma that holds us back and create more healthy patterns.

TRE can be used as an emotional first aid tool, and as a way to work through PTSD. You can use it to recover after an accident or to treat anxiety and complex trauma.

It can be learned in a 1-2-1 session or in a group, and can even be used to treat collective trauma.

Life often changes in unexpected ways, giving us challenges that seem impossible to face at first. Yoga teaches us not to resist change, but to meet it with awareness and presence.

Growth happens when we let go of who we were and open ourselves to who we are becoming. We find it when we learn to lean into our breath and give ourselves the space we need to grow.

Trusting the process isn't always easy, but it can bring us peace and help us to heal.
