Today has seen the publication of the Nottingham Ockenden Maternity Review — the largest maternity review in the history of the NHS.

It is a very difficult read. Please take care of yourself if you choose to read the report itself, or follow the media coverage around it.

One of the themes that emerges repeatedly is women and birthing people telling us that they did not feel listened to — at all stages of pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Listening is at the heart of the Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP). Our role is to ensure that the experiences, views and voices of women, birthing people and families — including dads and partners — help shape the planning and delivery of maternity services.

This is especially important for those who may face additional barriers or inequalities — including people living in poverty, disabled people, neurodivergent people, refugees and asylum seekers, people who find reading or speaking English difficult, LGBTQ+ families, and people from global majority communities.

If you would like to get in touch with MNVP in North & North East Lincolnshire please do:

🫄If you are pregnant and feeling worried or unsettled, please speak to your community midwife, who can offer support, reassurance and help you access the right care.

👩‍🍼 If you are living with birth trauma or difficult experiences of maternity care, support is available. You may find the following organisations helpful:

• Birth Trauma Association – support and information for people affected by traumatic birth experiences
• Make Birth Better – peer support and resources for processing birth trauma
• PANDAS Foundation – support for parents experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy and after birth
• NHS Talking Therapies – support for anxiety, trauma and emotional wellbeing.
• Ellie’s Gift & Chasing Rainbows - support for baby loss and pregnancy after loss

You can also speak to your GP, health visitor or maternity team for further support.

Your voice matters. Your experience matters. Listening must be at the centre of maternity care! 💜

We ran our Badgernotes survey back in September last year and the responses we received helped to drive some much needed improvements with the app for its users.

We have been asked to run this again to see if things have improved and how people are finding using it now, please would you take 5 minutes to fill out this short survey or just pop us a message with your comments so that we can see if further improvements may be needed.

Is the speed ok?
Is it easy or difficult to navigate?
Can you access the information you need in a format that’s right for you?
What do you like about?
What don’t you like about it?

Thankyou for your time and help in supporting us to work with the hospital on topics like this one, your experiences and opinions really matter & we want to get it right for you.

⭐ The Neonatal Family Flat Fund - Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital ⭐

Every year, 1 in 8 babies are admitted to the neonatal units — and for families, this can bring unexpected challenges, worry, and long days away from home.
We’re proud to offer accommodation on the unit, allowing parents to stay close to their baby during such a critical time. But over the years, these family flats have become tired, outdated, and in need of some care and attention.
Our goal is to transform these spaces into warm, welcoming environments where families can rest, recover, and feel supported during one of the hardest times of their lives.
To make this happen, we need the support of our amazing community, local businesses, and fundraisers. Whether it’s through donations, fundraising events, supplies, or sponsorship, every contribution can help us create a comforting “home away from home” for our neonatal families.
If you’d like to get involved or support this project, please get in touch — together, we can make a real difference 💚 🧡
