Mental health fluctuates during injury recovery.

People think that as the days and weeks go by your mental health will level up or stay in a consistent line. Your recovering so all will be "fine" soon.

But what actually happens is way messier. One day your fine and hopeful and the next something small hits you, the pain returns for a split second when doing something and it hits you and you feel low and cant explain it to someone without feeling like your overreacting.

There's a belief that you should be handling this better. Its not world ending. But it is happening.

Injury impacts with who are, not just what you can or cannot do. It takes away routine.

Your left trying to rebuild who you are, whilst being told to be patient, positive and consistent. Which is a lot when your nervous system is already on the edge.

Sit with it all and give yourself permission to feel everything you feel.

Know that you will be better, and you wont be injured forever. And its ok to not be ok.
