Keyworth Community Garden We are a community garden in Keyworth promoting both physical & mental health & wellbeing

We are Amanda Ramsay and Nicola Twidale and we started our journey at BBC Gardeners World 2019 where we built our vision of creating a community well-being and therapy garden in the Beautiful Borders Competition. We have a passion for the outdoors and creating a sustainable environment in which to grow our own food and flowers. We are excited to be in the process of securing land to create a garde

n in the Keyworth/Stanton on the Wolds area in Nottinghamshire where we will be creating a beneficial, beautiful natural environment where people can come together and engage in gardening and nature to promote their physical and mental health and wellbeing. In the meantime, we have put together a list of services that we will be offering alongside of this. We can advise on a range of gardening issues, can teach you how to maintain your own garden and work with you to enhance what you have, including offering

• Garden consultations, including right plant, right place, including garden centre trips if required
• Pruning and maintenance advice
• Accessibility advice and how you can make your space work for you
• Pots and planters
• Border revamps
• Garden design advice
• How to start growing your own

We are also developing creative gardening and nature related workshops for groups when restrictions allow. Email us on [email protected] if you would like to receive our monthly newsletter which will have tips on what needs doing in the garden and what to look out for in nature as it evolves through the seasons. You can also connect with us here on Facebook or on Instagram

We would also love to hear from you with your thoughts and questions in order that we can plan our activities around what people really want to know.

It really is a disgrace 😞. We specifically asked for no weedkiller to be used around the Peace Garden, which we maintain on behalf of the Parish Council and use no chemicals at the Community Garden either. These chemicals not only destroy biodiversity but also end up in our bodies! Surely these Councils should be working together and have a cohesive approach in the village or all the good done in one area is undone in another!

We get all sorts of visitors to the community garden, this week Mr and Mrs Claus made an appearance 🤔

While it gave us a chuckle they maybe need to make their way back home so they can get prepared for next Christmas 🌲
