πŸ§ πŸ’œ ADHD & Menopause, Why So Many Women Feel β€œDifferent” During Midlife 🩡

Struggling with:
✨ Brain fog
✨ Overwhelm
✨ Anxiety
✨ Forgetfulness
✨ Emotional dysregulation
✨ Difficulty concentrating

Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can intensify ADHD symptoms and for many women, this may be the first time they realise ADHD could be part of their story.

At TMC, we believe women deserve compassionate, evidence-based support that looks at the whole person πŸ’œ

In this latest article, Liz Tatham, Systemic Psychotherapist at TMC, explores the connection between ADHD, hormones, emotional wellbeing and menopause, helping women feel heard, understood and supported.

16/05/2026

πŸ’œ Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) is now officially being recognised as PMOS: Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. 🩡

And this is incredibly important for women. πŸ‘

For years, healthcare professionals and patients have been saying that PCOS is about far more than just ovaries or β€œcysts.” The new name finally reflects what the science has been showing us all along:

✨ PMOS is a complex, whole-body hormonal and metabolic condition.

The updated terminology follows a 14-year global scientific consensus process published in The Lancet and represents a huge shift towards more holistic, joined-up healthcare for women. 🩺🌿

Why is this good news? πŸ’‘

πŸ’œ The β€œcysts” are not actually cysts
🩡 Many women never even had visible ovarian follicles on scans
πŸ’œ The condition affects hormones throughout the entire body
🩡 Insulin resistance and metabolic health are central features
πŸ’œ Mental health impacts such as anxiety, low mood and disordered eating are now being recognised as core symptoms
🩡 It encourages clinicians to look at the BIGGER picture instead of treating symptoms in isolation

For too long, many women have experienced:
⚑ Delayed diagnosis
⚑ Dismissed symptoms
⚑ Fragmented healthcare
⚑ A focus purely on fertility or periods

This change helps move women’s healthcare towards what clinicians and advocates have been calling for for years:
✨ Connecting the dots
✨ Whole-person healthcare
✨ Evidence-based treatment plans
✨ Collaborative and informed decision-making

At TMC, we strongly advocate for a whole-person approach to women’s hormonal healthcare. πŸ’œ

We believe women deserve:
🩺 Comprehensive assessments
🧠 Recognition of mental wellbeing
🩸 Metabolic and hormonal support
🌿 Individualised care plans
πŸ“š Evidence-based information to make informed choices about their health

This is a positive and important step forward in women’s healthcare, helping women feel seen, heard and properly supported. πŸ’œπŸ©΅

πŸ’œ Mental Health Awareness Week β€” Action For All Of Us 🩡

As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to a close, we are reminded that protecting mental wellbeing is something that affects every one of us. 🌍

Awareness is important, but real change happens when we continue the conversation, support one another, and push for better access to education, healthcare, and compassionate support. 🀝

At TMC, we see every day how hormonal health and mental health are deeply connected.

Women navigating:
🩡 Perimenopause
πŸ’œ Menopause
🩡 PMDD
πŸ’œ PMOS
🩡 Endometriosis
πŸ’œ Hormonal transitions

may experience:
πŸ˜” Low mood
😰 Anxiety
🧠 Brain fog
😴 Sleep disruption
πŸ’ Emotional overwhelm
πŸ’œ Loss of confidence

Yet far too many women still feel unheard, dismissed, or unsupported.

This week may be ending, but the conversation around women’s mental health must continue. 🌱

Together we can:
πŸ’¬ Reduce stigma
πŸ“– Share evidence-based information
🀝 Support one another
🩺 Improve women’s healthcare
🌍 Create healthier communities for future generations

πŸ’œ Supporting Others Supports Us Too 🩡

This , we are reminded that kindness, connection, and community all play an important role in mental wellbeing. 🌿

Checking in on a friend.
Listening without judgement.
Offering support.
Creating safe conversations.

Small actions for others can also have a positive impact on our own mental health. 🀝

At TMC, we know that many women navigating:
🩡 Perimenopause
πŸ’œ Menopause
🩡 PMDD
πŸ’œ PCOS
🩡 Endometriosis
πŸ’œ Hormonal changes
can experience anxiety, overwhelm, low mood, brain fog, and emotional exhaustion.

No woman should feel alone in that experience. πŸ’œ

This week, let’s turn awareness into action by:
πŸ’¬ Starting conversations
🀝 Supporting one another
🌱 Encouraging compassion
πŸ“– Sharing trusted information
🩺 Promoting evidence-based women’s healthcare

Together, we can help build healthier, more supportive communities for women everywhere. 🌍

πŸ’œ Action For Yourself Starts With Small Steps 🩡

This , we want to remind women that protecting your mental wellbeing does not have to begin with major life changes.

Sometimes, the most powerful actions are the smallest ones. 🌱

✨ Taking a walk outdoors
✨ Prioritising sleep
✨ Speaking to a friend
✨ Taking a break
✨ Nourishing your body
✨ Asking for support

Hormonal health and mental health are deeply connected, and many women navigating perimenopause, menopause, PMDD, PCOS, endometriosis, and other hormonal transitions experience symptoms such as anxiety, brain fog, overwhelm, low mood, and poor sleep. πŸ§ πŸ’œ

At TMC, we believe women deserve evidence-based support, compassionate care, and access to trusted information that supports both body and mind. 🌿

This week, take one small positive action for yourself. It matters more than you think. 🀝
