A little glimpse into a session today…
For some people, the toes can catch on the floor, leading to shuffling, rushing, or an increased risk of tripping and falling.
In this exercise, we were practising:
- Lifting the toes deliberately
- Moving slowly and with control
- Weight-bearing through the standing leg
- Keeping the bean bag balanced on the foot!
The bean bag serves an important purpose. It provides an external focus and helps interrupt the automatic movement patterns that may have developed over time. Rather than rushing, the brain is encouraged to concentrate on one simple task: lift the foot and keep the bean bag in place.
This can improve:
✔️ Toe clearance
✔️ Balance
✔️ Single-leg stability
✔️ Walking confidence
✔️ Concentration and motor control
