Consistency is key.
Consistency > perfection.
Honestly it sounds like a buzzword. But its not.
Repeating the same thing over, and over again might sound boring but if you think about it. You tend to get better, and better at something right?
Now, we don’t just wake up and be *consistent* but here are a few barriers I have came across in my time coaching.
You wake up with a spurt of motivation and... oh ohhhh, the next day it has gone! Then what? you aren’t motivated to go to the gym.. so... you. go. home? Nah, theres not much point. results are seen with repeating the same or better actions over a period of TIME. not once, not twice. a while...
Spinning toooo many plates? Meal prep, tracking cals, 9 hours sleep, no phones before bed, reading, 5 x workouts, 10,000 steps, collegan and high protein. AAAHH. is a lot. especially if you don’t have it all in place. start of little by little and it WILL become a habit. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
You’re unorganised: you go to the gym 3 x a week, you prepare lunches but you don’t see results. how well thought were these actions? progressive workouts, meals that determine your goals and not considering social events generally is where we go wrong. Plan ahead, you WILL become more consistent.
You give up after 1 bad day. BOY, we are not perfect. there is always tomorrow. and.. it doesn’t undo the next days progress. Sometimes a day off is needed, sometimes it’s unplanned and things go t**s up. accept it, move on > giving up and failing.
Having a cheerleader- sometimes, just sometimes, we want to be HEARD. I know everyone does not care if you skipped a gym day or needed advice on an extra rest day. but having someone hold you accountable gives you the determination not to f up.
