Gentle Release Therapy (GRT) is a deeply relaxing therapy that combines the beliefs of Traditional Chinese Medicine, theory of acupuncture and energy work to support the body in restoring balance and Qi flow in the body.

TCM believes maintaining health and wellbeing is based on the balance and harmony within the body to enable the free flow of Qi. Qi flows through the body via channels known as meridians. When the flow is disrupted it can create imbalances that lead to physical, mental and emotional health issues.

GRT releases the ‘blocks’ causing the restrictions creating restrictions and health symptoms. Reinvigorating the flow of Qi can soothe the nervous system, ease physical discomfort and irritation, rebalance emotions and restore purpose and energy.

The experience of receiving GRT is often described as deeply relaxing, often offering a sense of clarity, lightness in the body and a renewed sense of wellbeing.

At the centre of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the belief that our life force known as Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) flows throughout our bodies and sustains life.

TCM believes that health and wellbeing is the result of a continuous harmonious flow of Qi around the body.

When Qi flows freely around the body our vitality is promoted through all aspects i.e. physical health, mental clarity and emotional balance. The body’s own innate healing capacity is enhanced and we are better able to adapt to life challenges and daily stressors.

TCM considers Illness and discomfort (physical or emotional) to be the result of blockages or restriction in the flow of Qi. The aim of TCM is to restore the flow of Qi around the body to support health and wellbeing.

Gentle Release Therapy (GRT) applies these beliefs to support the body by releasing, restoring, strengthening and promoting the flow of Qi. Using gentle touch, intention and intuition GRT offers a relaxing experience whilst restoring balance to the body and mind.

The Sphenobasilar Synchondrosis (SBS) is an area we often release during a Gentle Release Therapy Treatment. It a piece of cartilage between the occipital bone (base of skull shown in purple) and the sphenoid bone shown in yellow.

Restriction here can contribute to Bell’s palsy, asthma, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, neuralgia, ear infections, dental or TMJ problems, exhaustion, ME, insomnia, eye problems, sinusitis, tinnitus, headaches, migraines or hormonal imbalances.

With Gentle Release Therapy we gently hold each of the cranial bones to allow them to release and tension they are holding, and while we do this we often hear more gurgling from the abdomen as a sign that its allowing more release further down the body too.

Whilst there is a list of problems that can be associated with each of the cranial bones, we never release them in isolation, we will sometimes need to go back to areas once we release another, as we have created more space for release. Like a jigsaw puzzle, we need to allow the areas to release in the best way for each unique individual.

Yesterday I measured the height of one of my regular clients before and after his treatment. He always feels and looks so much taller after a treatment, and many clients often say the same and that they need to adjust their rear view mirror when they get in the car after a session.

He was over 3cm taller after the treatment! That's over an inch! I think I may need to get a proper height measurer and offer it every session, rather than using a book and a pencil! 🤣

Introducing Gentle Release Therapy...

LYMPHATIC RELEASE

Another system we can support within Gentle Release Therapy is the Lymphatic system.

A lymphatic system that is struggling to work under its normal daily load can show up in more ways than just lymphedema.
Signs Your Lymphatic system may be struggling:
• Constant Fatigue
• Brain fog
• Sinus infections
• Headaches
• Waking with aches and pains
• Swollen glands
• Puffiness in the face
• Swelling in the hands and ankles/feet
• Bloating
• Skin issues, dry or itchy
• Constipation
• Struggling immune system - repeatedly picking up colds or generally feeling under the weather.

Why are can so many areas can be effected when the lymph system isn’t working well?

The lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs in that body that helps rid the body of the toxins and waste that is produced within our body’s daily functions. So alongside keeping our blood ‘clean’ it is also part of our immune system scanning what comes into our body producing lymphocytes that help kill invading virus and bacteria. As well as maintaining the balance of fluids in the tissues and facilitating the absorption of fats and fat-soluble nutrients in the digestive system. The brain has its own cleaning system that is most active when we sleep. The regular lack of a good night’s sleep will start to impact on the brain’s capacity and function.

In Gentle Release Therapy we support the lymph system to improve function and reduce symptoms with a movement sequence that combines reflexology and acupuncture points. The process is delivered through a sequence of strokes and holds over and on the tops of the feet. Before starting the lymphatic release we would balance the TCM organs in the abdomen to ensure that energy is free flowing to help support the release from the lymphatic system physically and energetically.

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned above and would like support get in touch (email: [email protected]) and we can take it from there.
