Oh didn't I choose a good week to take off?

Things have been a bit full on behind the scenes, which probably explains why I've been so quiet on the old socials, sorry about that!

I've been busy behind the scenes revising for exams, sitting said exams, prepping to teach 5 CPD's (yes 5 🖐🏼 🤪) for on Women's Health I'll be delivering in September and October, teaching with .online at and and being a dance and cricket mum all over the country.

I've read that back and made myself feel tired, no wonder I needed a week off...

Clinic is back on Monday 1st June and I have some availability if you'd like to book yourself in for an Initial Consultation, or if your due for Hypnotherapy.

Availability is limited, please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Have a lovely week, enjoy the sunshine 🌞

Don't forget to hydrate 😄

So many women I work with are carrying everything:

• Work.
• Family.
• Mental load.
• Hormones.
• Expectations.
• Worry.

And somewhere in the middle of looking after everyone else… they stop looking after themselves.

They put themselves at the bottom of the priority list.

Putting off self-care.

Anxiety often grows when we’ve been in survival mode for too long.

Our brain starts telling us that everything is a potential threat, and we start feeling anxious and find it harder to cope with what life is throwing at us.

What if this weekend you take just 10 minutes for YOU to:
• Pause
• Breathe
• Ask for support
• Rest without guilt

Small steps towards calm still count

You are allowed to prioritise yourself too.

Many of you know that my daughter is on a competitive dance team, which requires a lot of dedication and training.

Her dance school is signed up with Easy Fundraising, which is a passive way for people can help places like her dance school raise much-needed funds for training equipment and costumes.

If you become our supporter on easyfundraising, you'll raise free funds for The Kelly Shirley School of Dance simply by shopping online.
And if you join by Sunday, 24th May, you can help The Kelly Shirley School of Dance WIN a £5,000 donation prize in easyfundraising's Donation Day giveaway, sponsored by TUI! The Kelly Shirley School of Dance will get a FREE entry each time a new supporter signs up! It only takes a moment, and it's completely free, so please get involved if you haven't already - this would really boost our fundraising: https://join.easyfundraising.org.uk/the-kelly-shirley-school-of-dance/jxd4ty/s2s/E7OVWoL0/PMC03/whatsapp/

Even Hypnodog knows it is a good idea to get yourself down to the polling station today...

Big of a busy time at the moment, social media has been taking a back seat whilst I have had my head down and crack on with my studying, light at the end of the tunnel for now, but still time for a ❌ in a box.

My next date for delivering my Working With Women CPD is 11th September 2026

This 4 hour CPD is for all Solution Focused Hypnotherapists who work with women in their clinics (see what I did there?!) and would like to extend their knowledge on:

How hormones and stress impact each other.
How issues like Endometriosis, Polycyclic O***y Syndrome, Ademyosis, PMS and PMDD, Sexual Dysfunction (Vaginismus and Libido) can be benefitted with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

We'll take a look at the Menstrual cycle, the hormones, (possibly not looked at this since you were in school so a refresher is always beneficial!) the differences between men and women's brains, how the cycle interacts and is impacted with stress and how we as SFH can support the women we see in our clinic.

Interested?

You can book on now, via https://www.cpht.co.uk/events/7-working-with-women/

This CPD is also part of my 5 Women's Health CPDs Including:

🥚 Fertility 25th September https://www.cpht.co.uk/events/25-fertility/

How are you at doing nothing?

No, me either.

This is my version of 'doing nothing'

I'm not getting the kids to an activity.

I'm not doing any working, or studying.

I'm not getting housework done, or sorting something out.

I'm just sat, enjoying a hobby, with something on the TV I want to watch.

Sometimes, just sometimes, I even sit with no TV, no radio, nothing on, silence with a hot drink and enjoy the peace.

How are you at doing that?

When we experience busy lives allowing ourselves quiet moments or actual rest and respite can be hard because we can feel like there's always something we *should* be doing and guild for not doing something.

The problem is we do ourselves no favours for over scheduling ourselves.

Our brains benefit from the down time, having quiet moments, in fact, it even benefits from being bored.

Yes, we actually thrive from boredom.

We can be overstimulated, particularly in these modern times.

So, make a drink, sit down, take some time out.

Your brain will thank you for it.

But oh, just look at that glorious sun, the lambs and the daffodils.

The tide is turning, Spring is springing, April is literally just round the corner.

Today is International Women’s Day 💜

A day to celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of women — but also a moment to acknowledge the reality of women’s mental health here in the UK.

Research shows women in the UK are around twice as likely as men to experience anxiety disorders, and many report feeling overwhelmed by the pressure of balancing work, family life, caring responsibilities and the constant expectation to “keep it all together”.

Behind the busy schedules and capable exteriors, many women are quietly carrying a lot.

So today feels like a good moment for a gentle reminder:
Your mental health matters.
You are allowed to rest.
You don’t have to manage everything alone.

Looking after your mind isn’t selfish — it’s essential. And sometimes even small shifts in the way we think or respond to life’s challenges can make a real difference.

However you’re spending today, I hope you take a moment to acknowledge your own strength and offer yourself the same kindness you so often give to others.
