What a fantastic day celebrating our amazing team!
After watching our wonderful colleagues Beth, Jo and Claire receive their well deserved Star Award nominations from Head Office, the celebrations continued as we headed to our very own Festival themed party.
Our 'Alex Fest' awards party was in full swing with a vibrant balloon arch, a fun filled photo area complete with guitars, microphones, hay bales and even two inflatable cows!
With music playing, rainbow glitter streamers and bubbles floating in the air the atmosphere was truly magical.
Staff wore their gifts of flower crowns, bandanas and specially printed lanyards and got into the spirit making it a day to remember.
A huge thank you to our talented chefs Nathan and Vic and their team for the delicious spread that kept everyone fuelled for fun.
From dancing and laughter to silly photos and great food we had an absolute blast celebrating together.
Moments like these remind us how special our team here at Alexandra House really is.

Alexandra House residents had a spectacular morning soaking up the sun on board the Friends of the Dolphin boat trip. We boarded at Poole Quay and took in the superb views as we made our way around Brownsea and the other islands. Ann was reminiscing about a sailing trip she had taken in the past.
The crew treated us to nice refreshing cold juice and tasty biscuits before we tucked into our picnic sandwiches.
We decided that it was such an amazing day and gorgeous weather we could have been anywhere in the Mediterranean! Pam said 'its like being in San Tropez.'

Football Fun with Friends!
We had an amazing morning with our friends from Dorset House. They hosted a Care South 'World Cup' event with AFCB at Dorset House where we pitted our best players against theirs in some superb skills-based games. We had some target games with a football and coloured mats, a throwing game where we had to score on a Velcro dartboard and finally a penalty shootout. It was such good fun and there was plenty of camaraderie and cheering each other on. A huge thank you to AFBC and to Dorset House for making us so welcome.
The winners on the day were the Alexandra House team and we were delighted.
On the way back to Alexandra House, we made the most of the glorious weather by stopping off alongside Poole Quay to eat a delicious ice cream.

We wished a very Happy 60th Birthday to Claire, who is such a hard working, kind and caring staff member at Alexandra House. She regularly picks up extra shifts to assist the care team, housekeeping and kitchens and is wonderful with residents and colleagues.
Claire, we hope you enjoyed your lovely cake, card and flowers. You deserve a superb 60th.

We had a wonderful time celebrating fathers Day here at our home.

Our gentlemen residents were delighted with their thoughtful gifts of hankies, biscuits and chocolate - all of which went down a treat!

It was lovely to see their families visiting - the gentlemen thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their loved ones and capturing special moments together.

To top off a perfect day, everyone tucked into some delicious cakes freshly made by our talented chef Vic.

A truly special day filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.

Happy Fathers Day to all.

Staff wished their lovely colleague Rogan a very happy 25th birthday today. He was surprised when we presented him with a chocolate cake, card and sang a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday!
We hope you enjoy the cake Rogan.

Just a reminder we are holding an Open Morning on Saturday 16th where we will have a large number of motorbikes on display between 10.30am-12pm and we would love to see you there. There will be refreshments available, Bacon or Egg bap with a hot drink just £2!

Predominantly these bikes were organised for a resident who has previously worked with motorbikes, and we wanted to give him an amazing morning. We will be bringing residents out in small groups so they can all benefit. We are sure there will be something for everyone to enjoy!

There will be no parking on site due to the number of bikes we have on display so be prepared you will need to park in the surrounding roads.

We really hope for a dry day and plenty of visitors!

We were honoured to be invited to the Civic Service of Thanksgiving by The Mayor of Poole Mark Howell. It was held at St James Church in Old Town Poole, which was a beautiful church with the most stunning stained glass windows.
The Home Deputy, Activites Lead and 2 residents attended to join the Service and see The recipients of this years Mayor Awards. One recipient was Mirella who is The Activities Lead at another Care South Home. A very deserved win for her.
We had a lovely evening and thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.
Our residents, both called Ann, said it had been very interesting and they had loved the music, especially the brass band which sounded incredible in the acoustics of the church.
Many thanks to the Mayor for our invitation.

Our residents had a wonderful time taking part in a special Easter Egg Hunt around the home. Paper eggs were carefully hidden, and everyone enjoyed the excitement of searching high and low to find them.

Once collected, the paper eggs were exchanged for a chocolate egg or chick by a very special visitor....the Easter Bunny (aka one of our lovely staff in a fantastic inflatable suit!)

There were lots of smiles, laughter and a few surprised faces!

To top if all off every resident also received a delicious chocolate egg as a gift from us. Safe to say they didn't last too long.

A joyful day full of fun and sweet treats for all.

Movement with Music

Today we had the most amazing time with the ladies from Pavilion Dance South
West, who did a session of ‘Movement with Music’ with our residents.

Aimee and Lisa came armed with music, balloons and hand shakers and big personalities. They were very good at interacting with the residents and making sure everyone was enjoying themselves.

The residents sat in the circle and followed the movements Aimee and Lisa were doing. We had the most fun with the maracas which made a delightful sound when shaken. Then we did some fun moves to ‘Tequila’!

It was quite special to see some of the residents who aren’t as easy to engage, smiling and laughing and really joining in.

Residents and staff were so impressed that they were asking ‘when are they coming back? Ann said, ‘that was so much fun’.
