Fascia... have you heard of it? Its what holds us all together, and therefore, can hold the secret to deep release.
Its the connective tissue which not only sits just beneath the skin, but also surrounds our muscles and internal organs. Because its all interwoven, tightness and restricted movement located in one area of the body can be affected by fascia located elsewhere.
Have you ever felt a massage therapist 'roll' your skin and not understood why they were doing it? It's just one way to stimulate fascial release.
You can also think of fascia as that tissue which enables muscles to glide freely and creat ease of mobility which we all crave. But injured, damaged or tight fascia may restrict mobility or result in pain and tension in affected areas.
Massage techniques that are slow, smooth, and strong can release fascia tension and improve adhesions caused by inflammation or injury. A great massage will always pay attention to fascia, leaving you with that 'walking on air' feeling after your treatment!
