Listen up boys … a few fun facts for you!
🌀 Thousands of years ago in India, yoga was taught by men to men, often one-on-one, and women were not initially allowed to participate.
🌀 While it originated with men, modern Western yoga has become female-dominated, with women often making up over 80% of class attendees.
🌀 Because of the growing interest from men wanting to combat the perception that yoga is "only for women," specific branded classes called "Broga" (Brotherly Yoga) have been created to focus on strength and functionality.
🌀 Many professional male athletes, from rugby players to fighters in the UFC, regularly practice yoga for injury prevention and increased range of motion.
🌀 A fun (and challenging) fact is that many men are surprised to find that yoga is incredibly strenuous, often demanding more physical strength than traditional weightlifting.
Whilst I currently don’t offer a “Broga” class (although love this idea and 🤞🏼 one day will) you are more than welcome to join any of my classes!
