Meet Dr Thujivan Kathiravelu Dc- TJ

TJ will be looking after all my lovely patients at Emerald Chiropractic Care and available to see new patients whilst I am away on maternity leave.

TJ treats patients of all ages, empowering them to take an active role in their health. He believes in a movement-focused approach and works collaboratively with patients to create tailored management plans based on their goals, particularly encouraging active patient involvement through rehabilitation exercises to compliment and enhance manual therapy treatment.

With a special interest in sports injuries, he enjoys trying new sports to better understand their demands and injury risks.

Happy International Women’s Day!

If I could tell this little girl anything it would be ‘girl, you are strong in so many ways! Flex those delts, and just be you chickadee!’ 😆🫶🏽

Being a woman is like being a chameleon and a world class juggler. Constantly needing to evolve and reinvent ourselves. Something that this year has felt especially applicable.
Just when I think I can’t, I’m reminded of the formidable women who raised me and made me the woman I am today; and women I’ve had the privilege of knowing through different stages of life so far; all of whom have taught me so many things along the way, and shown up for me like no other!

Thank you to all the women who have shown & taught me
Love
Strength
Resilience
Support
Acceptance
Understanding… and so much more!

I hope that we collectively raise strong sons, daughters, nieces, nephews & godchildren 🫶🏽

To the men who see this day and show it, and therefore us some respect- I aplaud you LOUDLY, because we may be raising a new generation of new thinkers, but you are too & they watch how you show up, closely.

When you have a cold it can wipe you out.

Take it from me, it’s evident in the body! Often I find the whole back feel tense and stiff- like the body is run down.
Truth be told it is, it’s still in recovery mode even when the classical symptoms of cold virus reduces.

🫶🏽The extra rest and sleep we need can leave us stiff. Periods of inactivity, limited exercise, reduction of our normal day to day activities (even if just for a day).

Cold virus symptoms it’s self can run its toll on our bodies.
💚Coughs can cause intercostal & diaphragm (the muscles in between our ribs & the large muscle in our chest than enables breathing) strain not to mention a sore throat from aggressive coughing/ bringing up phlegm, and the position we adopt when coughing - which is often hunched over is very strenuous for our bodies.

💚Sinus infections can leave us feeling ‘bunged up’ this leads to tight and tender facial muscles which can extend all the way to our necks and shoulders (think of our lymphatic drianage paths) it’s all connected.

💚Headaches, ‘fuzzy or heavy heads’ adds a lot of tension to our temporal muscles, occipital muscles (the muscles and the back of our skull), and trazepious muscles (shoulder muscles) just to name few.

Once our body has fought the virus (common cold) we are often left with this pressure in our spines that can linger and leave us still feeling ‘wiped out’

- honestly, if you’ve been ‘meaning to get in touch’, now’s the time to put yourself and your health first

Remember health, fitness and alignment is not just about physicallity-albeit a big part.
It’s also about reducing ‘chemical stress’ and ‘emotional stress’

So yes, absolutely yes, it is time to look after yourself!

Uhhh yesss I am jumping on this 2016 trend!
It’s funny when at the time you feel conscious of every part of yourself, every fashion choice etc, then you look back and you realise- woah I was in shape, I was having fun, exploring fun avenues with the business and work, taking trips of a lifetime, going to the gym, smashing Halloween costumes, actually able to wear and walk (and dance) in heeeels!
These were THE days!!!

Hey guys I’m Nutan, this video is for all of you who have met me or connected with me along the way, but perhaps don’t know the whole story- even if it’s in a nutshell. I graduated in 2012 at the tender age of 23, and set up Emerald Chiropractic Care just shy of my 24th birthday 😱 12 years of Emerald Chiropractic Care- I’ve grown up with this company. Lots has changed along the way, and I’ve learnt a lot of lessons, hard lessons, and beautiful ones too! Of course still learning now.
Thank you for being here and being one of the main reasons I’m still going!!

Happy International Women’s Day!

I love this picture! I remember thinking ‘ohhh yea- hair looking nice, got a nice dress on feeling a bit more alive and like myself!’….. Kiddo vomited alllll over me an hour later and that was that 😆

But it reminds me that women are soo many things ALL AT ONCE! And it blows my mind how we do it!

So this year, here is to

Those that are finding themselves again
Those that are smashing their goals
Those feeling lost
Those that are feeling overwhelmed
Those feeling like they aren’t hitting any of their goals

Today was my last shift of 2024! 😱 How did that happen?!

This has been the hardest year of business I’ve had in the 11 years of ECC.

Navigating returning to a job after significant time off and regrowing the business-
from figuring out new schedules, being a wizard with time management (& often failing, as you can tell from my radio silence on socials), to generally finding my way back to the norm & my place back in the mix has been super tough and lovely all in the same breath.

The only thing I can really say is a massive THANK YOU!

To all my ECC family, family and home support systems without whom there would have been times I wasn’t even able to come to work x
