Technique Tuesday!!

Deep tissue massage isn’t just about going deeper… šŸ™Œ

One technique I often incorporate is assisted stretching, supporting your body through stretches while the muscles are already warm and relaxed from massage.

Why?

✨ Encourages flexibility & mobility
✨ Helps ease that tight, restricted feeling
✨ Supports range of movement
✨ Works beautifully alongside deeper massage techniques
✨ Can help you become more aware of where you’re holding tension

And importantly, nothing is forced. I work within your comfortable range and respond to what your body needs.

Because sometimes effective deep tissue work isn’t about pressing harder, it’s about helping your body move better. 🩵

A few years ago I realised something…

The problem has never been that I don’t know what healthy habits look like.

The problem is trying to fit them into a busy life.

That… and breaking some of the unhealthy habits that seem so much easier to create! šŸ™ˆ

Since then, I’ve spent a lot of time experimenting with small changes, simple routines and realistic ways to support my own wellbeing.

Some changes stick.

Others need a bit more work.

And some just aren’t going to work for me long term.

And you know what? That’s OK.

Because the habits that have stuck are starting to stack up.

And sometimes, those small changes can lead to something much bigger. 🌱

That’s exactly where this has been heading…

✨ The Sunday Reset Group ✨

Something designed to help make healthy habits feel a little more realistic, manageable and achievable… even when life is busy.

It’s slowly evolving into something I’m REALLY excited to share with you.

Launching soon…

I can’t wait to tell you more. šŸŒæšŸ’›

I promised you something new… 🩵

Behind the scenes at Calm & Glow, something new has been quietly taking shape.

Not a diet…

Not a quick fix…

Not another all-or-nothing plan…

My summer seems to have flown by in a chaotic blur of holidays, festivals, juggling kids and work, an impending house move… and, of course, a surprise engagement! šŸ’

(Yes, Lee finally popped the question after more than 12 years together! 🄰)

But somewhere amongst all the chaos, some of those wellbeing habits I’ve been trying so hard to focus on have quietly slipped off track.

And maybe I’m not the only one.

If, like me, you could do with a little reset… without the pressure, guilt or feeling that you have to overhaul your entire life, you’re in the right place.

I’ve been working really hard on something behind the scenes for the last 6 months, alongside consulting with a nutritionist, and I’m almost ready to share it with you.

Something designed to help people like me develop simple habits, practical tools and a gentler approach to looking after ourselves.

Because sometimes we don’t need to start again.

We just need to reset. 🩵

Did you know that professionally trained reflexologists study much more than reflex points?

My training included:

šŸ‘£ Case studies
🦶 Anatomy & physiology
šŸ‘£ Understanding the systems of the body
🦶 Reflexology techniques
šŸ‘£ Reflex points
🦶 Consultation & assessment
šŸ‘£ Contraindications & precautions
🦶 Health & hygiene
šŸ‘£ Professional practice
🦶 First Aid

I learnt how to develop routines that support different wellbeing goals, adapting treatments to each individual client and their needs.

Over time, I’ve continued to develop my practice so that it is responsive to each person, working with the body’s natural processes and helping clients understand techniques they can take away and incorporate into their own wellbeing routines at home.

Reflexology is so much more than a foot massage. šŸ‘£

It can be a deeply relaxing treatment, but there is also so much thought, knowledge and professional training behind what a reflexologist does.

And if you’re curious but not quite ready to commit to a full reflexology treatment, why not try before you buy? šŸ’š

I’m offering a free 10-minute reflexology taster with any treatment of 1 hour or more, from now right through to the end of 2026.

Just ask me when you book. ✨

✨ Reflexology & Joint Discomfort šŸ‘£

Living with stiff, aching or painful joints can affect so much more than your mobility, it can leave you feeling tired, tense and emotionally drained too.

Reflexology is a gentle, deeply relaxing therapy based on the principle that different areas of the feet correspond with different parts of the body. By applying pressure to these reflex points, the treatment encourages relaxation and helps calm the nervous system, allowing your body to switch from ā€œfight or flightā€ into its natural ā€œrest and restoreā€ mode.

While reflexology isn’t a cure for joint conditions, many clients tell me they notice:

🌿 Feeling deeply relaxed
🌿 Reduced tension throughout the body
🌿 Greater ease and comfort in movement
🌿 Improved overall wellbeing
🌿 A noticeable difference in the level of joint pain the are experiencing

Whether you’re living with arthritis, recovering from an injury, or simply feeling the effects of everyday wear and tear, reflexology can be a wonderful complementary therapy alongside the advice and treatment from your doctor / healthcare team.

Sometimes, the greatest gift we can give our bodies is the chance to slow down and create the right conditions to repair itself naturally. šŸ’š

🌿 Lymphatic drainage supplements seem to be everywhere at the moment… so I decided to take a closer look.

As a Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist, I’m committed to making sure the advice I give my clients is evidence-informed. So, when these products started appearing all over my social media feed, I spent some time researching the ingredients and looking at what the current evidence actually says.

Here’s what I found…

šŸ’š There isn’t currently strong evidence that the popular ā€œlymph detoxā€ drops improve lymphatic drainage or flush toxins from the body.

šŸ’š There is better evidence to support approaches such as Manual Lymphatic Drainage, gentle movement, diaphragmatic breathing and, in some cases, specific supplements that support healthy circulation rather than claiming to ā€œdetoxā€ your lymphatic system.

šŸ’š If you’re experiencing heavy, tired legs, fluid retention, menopause-related puffiness or you’re living with lipoedema, there’s rarely one magic solution. The best results usually come from combining the right therapies with practical home care and lifestyle support.

One of the things I love most about my job is helping people understand what really works, so they can make informed choices rather than spending money on products that may not deliver what they promise.

If you’ve been wondering whether Manual Lymphatic Drainage could help you, or you’re unsure which supplements are actually worth considering, I’d be happy to chat or book you in for a consultation to discuss what’s most appropriate for your individual needs.

Today is International Self-Care Day… and here’s your reminder that self-care doesn’t have to be complicated. šŸ’›

It isn’t always spa days and scented candles.

Sometimes self-care is…
✨ Drinking the water you’ve been meaning to drink.
✨ Going to bed 30 minutes earlier.
✨ Saying ā€œnot todayā€ without feeling guilty.
✨ Taking five minutes to breathe before rushing onto the next thing.
✨ Booking that massage or facial you’ve been promising yourself for months.

Small moments, repeated consistently, often make the biggest difference.

So today, don’t aim for perfection. Just choose one thing that helps you feel a little calmer, lighter or more like yourself.

I came across this whilst scrolling and it made me stop and think.

Is it realistic every single morning? Probably not… especially with children! 🤣 But I love the idea behind it.

Creating healthier habits doesn’t have to mean completely overhauling your routine with every social media suggestion. This sounds like a lovely way to start the day, but sometimes the biggest changes come from choosing just one small idea and letting it become part of your routine before adding something else.

For me, the part that stood out was making intentional time for connection. A message to someone you love, a quick chat over breakfast, or simply being more present with the people around you.

So over the next few weeks, I think I’m going to experiment with swapping a few minutes of morning social media scrolling for something a little more meaningful.

Small changes, repeated consistently, often have the biggest impact. ✨

Could you add just one thing from this list to your morning routine? Or maybe you’ll give the full 6-in-60 a go if it feels right for you? I’d love to know which one you’d choose. šŸ’š
