🥁 Drumming Lots of Fun at St Ives House! 🥁

Our residents at St Ives House had a fantastic morning enjoying a lively Drumming with Dawn workshop! 🎶

The session was a brilliant way to get moving, with activities designed to help strengthen core muscles and improve coordination, all while having lots of fun drumming to the beat on an air-filled ball! 🥁⚡

Residents enjoyed learning new drumming routines, starting with a warm-up before moving into the main session, and finishing with a gentle cool-down using the drumsticks for support.

One of the firm favourites was the fast-paced routine to Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5! 🎵 Everyone kept up brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

There was plenty of laughter and encouragement throughout the morning, and everyone agreed it was a wonderful way to spend time together. ❤️

A huge well done to everyone who took part, what a fantastic morning of fun and friendship! 👏🥁💃

🎾 Wimbledon came to our home! 🎾

Residents and staff enjoyed a fantastic afternoon together at our annual Wimbledon Tennis Tournament. With the hot weather making our usual Centre Court a little too warm, we were delighted to move the tournament indoors to our air-conditioned room, a welcome relief for everyone!

Everyone joined in the fun, with plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and wonderful moments shared throughout the afternoon. After the matches, residents enjoyed a delicious selection of refreshments, including Pimm's, fruit punch, and, of course, the traditional Wimbledon treat of strawberries and cream. 🍓🥂

It was a truly memorable afternoon filled with friendship, smiles, and community spirit. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make it such a special event! 💚🎾

☀️ What a fantastic afternoon at the St Ives House Annual Summer Fayre! So many photos to share!💛

It was wonderful to see our residents, staff, relatives, and friends come together for an afternoon filled with sunshine, laughter, and community spirit.

This year, our residents chose to support Parkinson’s UK, and we are incredibly proud to share that we raised an amazing £980 for this wonderful charity! 🎉

From the fantastic entertainment by the Singing Sweethearts, to our delicious BBQ, plenty of dancing, our famous raffle, and a variety of wonderful stalls, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and supported the event. Your generosity and enthusiasm helped make the day such a memorable success, and we couldn't have done it without you.

Here's to another fantastic Summer Fayre and the wonderful community that makes St Ives House so special! ❤️🌼

At St Ives House, we have launched our new “Wish it, Dream it, Do it” scheme, an initiative dedicated to making our residents’ wishes come true. 💙

One of our residents, Liz, shared her wish to go sailing again. Liz has a lifelong passion for sailing and has sailed across the UK and America throughout the years.

After researching local sailing clubs, we connected with Spinnaker Sailing Club in Blashford, Ringwood, who kindly offered to support Liz’s wish by taking her out on the lake.

From the moment she arrived, Liz was full of excitement, sharing wonderful stories from her sailing adventures. She met Graham, who supported her throughout the experience, and the two got on brilliantly straight away.

With her life jacket on and a huge smile on her face, Liz was assisted into the boat and set sail once again. ⛵

Liz spent over an hour out on the water, even steering the boat into the wind with Graham’s guidance. Afterwards, Liz said:
“I loved the feeling of the wind on my face when I was sailing, it made me feel alive again.”

Moments like these remind us how important meaningful experiences are, and we are so grateful to Spinnaker Sailing Club for helping make this wish a reality.

We look forward to taking Liz sailing again in the future! 💙

💙 St Ives House was proud to launch Caring Conversations, a new carers support group created to bring together and support those caring for a loved one.

The first event was kindly hosted by St Ives House relative Malcolm, who has cared for his wife for many years. Malcolm shared that it was a privilege to host the launch event and an opportunity to give back to others facing similar experiences.

We were delighted to welcome members of the local community, relatives from the home, a volunteer from another Care South home, and carers from the wider community.

The afternoon was filled with heartfelt conversations, shared experiences, and mutual support. A real sense of unity, strength, and understanding could be felt throughout the room. 💫

We are already looking forward to future Caring Conversations events at St Ives House, with the next sessions taking place on 8th June and 13th July. We hope to welcome many new faces.

Sweet Memories & Sugary Smiles 🍬

Residents at St Ives House were delighted to welcome a brand-new addition to their leisure, wellness and activity plan, a wonderful sweet trolley! 🍬✨

Filled with both classic favourites and modern treats, the trolley brought smiles all around as everyone enjoyed choosing their own sweet delights.

The activity sparked plenty of conversation, with residents sharing fun facts, cherished memories, and stories about their favourite sweets from years gone by. There was a real sense of nostalgia in the air as everyone reminisced together.

Sue fondly recalled how she used to be sent to the shop to buy her father’s favourite sherbet lemons, and if she was quick, she’d be rewarded with one herself. A simple memory that brought plenty of smiles!

A truly sweet afternoon enjoyed by all 💛

Residents at St Ives House had a fantastic afternoon yesterday! 🚗✨

We were delighted to welcome the Austin 7 Club to the home, who kindly showcased their wonderful collection of classic cars. It made for a truly special experience for everyone.

The afternoon was made even more meaningful as one of our residents, Peter, had actually built one of the cars on display. Seeing his own creation back again was a proud and emotional moment, especially as he was able to share it with his wife here at the home.

It was heart warming to see residents reminiscing and sharing their memories, one even recalled going on their very first date in an Austin 7! ❤️

After the showcase, everyone came together in the bistro to enjoy coffee and cake, with plenty of stories, laughter, and conversations flowing.

A wonderful day filled with nostalgia, connection, and community.

The celebrations continued into the afternoon with a fun-filled Easter egg hunt in the beautiful spring sunshine.

It was a weekend full of smiles, laughter, and special moments enjoyed by everyone! ✨

The gentlemen of St Ives House are excited to launch their very own Men’s Club! 👏

This special time together allows them to connect, share ideas, and work on meaningful projects that benefit not only themselves but everyone in the home.

Kicking things off with a trip to B&Q, they gathered all the tools and materials needed to begin their first project, a sensory board designed to bring comfort, engagement, and positive experiences to residents.

This week, the hard work has already begun, and it’s fantastic to see the teamwork in action! 🔧

Ken and Mike are especially looking forward to next week’s session, where they’ll continue building and bringing the board to life. Watch this space for progress updates!
