Medway Parent and Carers Forum

Medway Parent and Carers Forum MPCF are a charity that acts as a voice for families of young people with additional needs and disabilities. What next?

We help improve current services, shape future service and direct parents/carers to services that they may find of use for their family. The Medway Parents and Carers Forum is a group formed to help bring together the parents, families and carers of children and young people with a variety of additional needs to have a voice within Medway. The forum is run by parents for parents, with support fro

m Medway Council and other organisations. Our Aims
•To have a collective voice around common issues.
•To work in partnership with those who provide services and support.
•To raise awareness of what support /services are needed.
•To raise awareness of issues faced by our children.
•To share experience and knowledge.
•To give feedback.
•To ensure that the future for our children is a good one. To achieve these aims we need your support, our strength and effectiveness relies upon your opinions and viewpoints. All parents carers of disabled children and young people are automatically members. To be involved or if you would like more information contact us. There is no charge for our service and no commitment-except to receive occasional communications from us about what is happening in our local area, with opportunities to express your views on a variety of topics (eg, short breaks, transition, childcare etc) at whatever level you wish. What the Forum can’t do

is tackle individual issues, it can only deal with issues that affect a number of people.

☀️ What a busy summer we've all had!💜

Throughout the school holidays, you may have spotted the MPCF team out and about at events across Medway!

From family fun days and community events to careers fairs and activities for children and young people, we’ve loved having the opportunity to meet so many parent carers, hear about your experiences and share more about how Medway Parent and Carers Forum can support and represent local families.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall for a chat, asked us a question or simply came over to say hello. 💜

💜 Back to school…

For some families, today might bring excitement and a welcome return to routine. For others, it might mean nerves, difficult transitions, uncertainty or a very different start to the new school year.

However the start of September looks for your family, we hope the transition into the new term is as positive as it can be. 💜

Every conversation counts 💜

You might have spotted the MPCF team out and about at events across Medway this summer.... Every conversation we have with a parent carer gives us an opportunity to listen.

It might be a quick question, a conversation about something your family is struggling with, something that's working really well, or simply a chance to find out what MPCF does.

So if you spot the purple MPCF stall, come and have a chat. What you have to say matters. 💜

💜 Can our Parent Support Team help you?

Our Parent Support Team is made up of parent carers themselves, or people with experience of SEND. They can offer advice and guidance, help signpost you towards relevant services and information, or simply be a listening ear and a friendly face when you need one.

Our team are also trained to support parent carers with completing DLA, PIP and Universal Credit applications.

Parent Support is available to MPCF members, so you'll need to be registered with us to access the service. Membership is free for parent carers of children and young people with SEND aged 0–25 living in Medway.

Find out more about our Parent Support Team or become a member through our website: 👉 https://medwaypcf.org.uk/ 💜
