A patch test is required before tattoo removal but what is it and why do I do it?
A patch test in laser tattoo removal is a small, trial treatment done before full removal sessions to see how your skin and tattoo react to the laser.
During your patch test appointment:
* I will laser a tiny section of your tattoo.
* It usually takes just a few minutes
* No full session—just a “sample” area
Why do I patch test?
* I’m looking to see how your skin and the tattoo reacts to the laser. checking for side effects like blistering, pigmentation changes, or scarring
* I am assessing how well the ink breaks down
* I am determining settings so that I can choose the safest and most effective laser strength and wavelength for your skin type and ink colors
What you expect after your patch test appointment:
* Mild redness, swelling, or slight blistering is normal
* You’ll typically wait 1–2 weeks to see how your skin heals before starting full treatments
