It’s International Day of Charity!

Today is a chance to celebrate the incredible difference that charity can make.

At King George & Queen’s Hospitals Charity, we work to make a real difference to our local hospitals. But we couldn’t do it without the generosity of our amazing supporters.

Every donation. Every fundraiser. Every volunteer. Every act of kindness.

It all adds up to something bigger.

So, today, we’re saying thank you to everyone who chooses to support their local hospitals.💛

Our wonderful garden volunteers were in need of some woodchip to help keep the Lavender Garden at Queen’s Hospital looking its best and make maintaining this special space a little easier.

A huge thank you to Cedar Tree Care, who kindly donated a whole lorry load of woodchip to support our volunteers and the upkeep of the garden for patients, families and staff.🌱🪏

Thank you to James, Zoe and the whole team for your generous support - we really appreciate it!

We loved visiting South Elm Women's Club in Hornchurch! We held a talk sharing more about our charity, who we are, what we do, and the difference fundraising can make for our local hospitals.

It was lovely to meet everyone, make new connections and start building a relationship with the club. We’re now looking forward to working together on some fundraising for our charity!🎉

Would you like us to come and chat to your community group, club or organisation about our charity and discuss how we can work together? Get in touch - we’d love to hear from you!

In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, we're looking back at a special event that our charity was proud to support.

Our Infant Feeding Team hosted a lovely afternoon tea for maternity colleagues currently on maternity leave, giving them the opportunity to reconnect with one another while bringing along their little ones – including the youngest guest, who was just two weeks old!🍼

The afternoon highlighted the importance of creating a workplace where breastfeeding parents feel supported and empowered when they return to work.

Madeliene Cole, a newly qualified midwife who attended with her seven-week-old daughter, Elizabeth, said:

"I'll be returning to work after eight months and this has provided me with a sense of support from my colleagues. It's reassuring to know we all share similar circumstances and concerns. Having a place where I feel comfortable to breastfeed at work is so important and will help me to continue my breastfeeding journey."

We're proud to support initiatives that help our staff feel valued, connected and supported at every stage of parenthood. 💛

At the weekend, three amazing supporters – Rosie, Thomas and April – took the leap at GoSkydive to raise money for our charity.🪂

Together, they raised almost £2,000 to help support patients, families and staff across our local hospitals. We couldn't be more grateful for their courage, dedication and commitment.

A huge thank you also to everyone who donated, shared their fundraising pages and cheered them on.

Feeling inspired to take on your own fundraising challenge? We'd love to hear from you! Whether it's a skydive, marathon, bake sale or something completely unique, we're here to support you every step of the way.

🚴 78 miles for 78 years of the NHS! 💙
Thank you to the fantastic team at Mitie, who took on an incredible sponsored cycle challenge at King George Hospital to celebrate the NHS's 78th birthday while raising funds for our charity.

Throughout the day, colleagues, NHS staff members and visitors worked together to cycle an impressive 78 miles on exercise bikes in the hospital atrium.

As the facilities management team at King George Hospital, Mitie plays a vital role in keeping the hospital running every day, and we're so grateful they've chosen to support our charity in this special way.

A special thank you to everyone who took part, stopped by to cheer the team on, or made a donation. Your support will help us continue funding projects that make a real difference for our patients, their families and our hardworking NHS staff. 💛
