***BRINGING OUR LITTLE PIECE OF SUNSHINE TO ASHFORD🌅***

I (Harriet) have finally finished tinkering with our new chalkboard at the Ashford space.

No longer will all the parents who walk by to the local primary school have to wonder what this strange painted building is over the green. Now they will know : It’s the ArtsBox!

Incoming: free art workshops coming your way!

In November, we will be having one community workshop and we are launching a short 4 week group online (details to follow soon!). As well as launching our winter journaling project which is back for the winter season. Hooray!

***AUTUMN EQUINOX AND THE BALANCE OF DAY & NIGHT***

This week was Autumn Equinox: when we have equal light and dark in the day and it's the half way point before the days start to get shorter and darker. I (Harriet) have definitely noticed fresher mornings and evenings and getting caught out by it getting dark all of a sudden in the evening when we have had such a long summer.

What I think this point in the year is really about is BALANCE.

We have also just moved into the Libra Zodiac sign which is represented, funnily enough, by a set of balance scales.

This is the perfect opportunity to slow down and take stock. Where do you need to invite more balance back into your life? Where have the busy summer months taken too much from you and some recalibration needs to happen?

So this is your invitation to slow, to rest, to have some time to reconsider what schedule would suit you now. We so often run on autopilot which ultimately puts our needs a long way down the list (if not at the bottom!). This isn't sustainable. You matter too. What do you need to "fill your own cup" this week?

This is our bright and welcoming therapy space at Ashford. We are based at Repton Community Trust Repton Community Centre and we have a specialised therapy unit there separate to the main building.

The team are working here Monday through Friday with both children and adults.

Are you an Art Therapist hoping to work or already working in or close to Rye?

We'd love to hear from you! In all of our current exciting changes, we are now looking for a new Art Psychotherapist to support us at Rye primarily. This will be freelance work booked on a client by client basis. There is also opportunity for work at our Ashford space too.

If you know someone who might be interested and could commute to Rye, please pass on our post! We are very keen to hear from Art Therapists, both newly qualified and with experience.

***WELCOME TO HEART SMART ARTS! 🙌🏻✨🦋***

Hi, I’m Harriet. I started HSA in 2020 and since then we have grown to a small team of therapists supporting both children and adults. We work from our two main bases in Rye, East Sussex and Ashford, Kent. We also work with local schools.

We are fortunate enough to be able to offer Art Therapy, Children’s Therapy and Drama Therapy with our current team.

We have just moved to a new space in Rye from our original space (which you can see some of behind me here). It has been really special to develop a new space in the centre of Rye and we feel very lucky to have one so close to the centre of town. We are currently fundraising to cover our costs.

***WE HAVE 10 DAYS LEFT OF OUR FUNDRAISER🙌🏻✨***

Can you help us provide a long term therapy space for Rye?

We have been busy applying for funding and fundraising ourselves whilst we develop our new therapy space alongside. This is in the hope we can recover our costs for creating this very special space right in the heart of Rye on Mermaid Street.

We’ve been very fortunate to receive funding from the brilliant Make Your Mark Charity which will cover a large portion of our costs but we still have some further cost to recover.

***HOW WAS YOUR SUMMER?☀️🌞🌅***

September has arrived. We know 🙃. But it feels really important not to let our moods drop at the back to school process and getting back into a routine.

I know some of you will be delighted to move away from summer chaos but I hope you have had the chance also to recharge your batteries, to rest and have some slow days too.

Summer can get so busy, don’t be afraid to push back and have some slow weekends as things get back to a regular pace. It’s very easy to do so much when summer is here but then feel very tired as the weather changes.

We are still having some lovely sunny days to enjoy so keep getting out to get your dose of vitamin D.

Go gently on yourself over the next few weeks. I like to focus on getting things moving in the right direction rather than finished and complete. It’s always a work in progress!

***WE ARE BACK AND IN A NEW SPACE!***

Welcome to Rye! This is the first glimpse at our new therapy space right on Mermaid Street in Rye Youth Zone

We have been very busy over the holiday getting our space organised and ready and we’ve seen our first clients back this week.

We are still fundraising to cover our costs (click the link in bio to see more) but we’re feeling very excited about building a new “home” here.

I (Harriet) personally, would like to never have to move again! 😂🤭 and am feeling very happy to be settling in.
