Rule of three… 🌺 a simple grounding technique (that you can do any where at any time)…
1. Find three things you can see…
- the more focus you give to details the more effective this will be.
2. Find three things you can hear…
- really listen, close your eyes if this helps too.
3. Move three parts of your body…
- this could be large movements, or small toes and nose wiggles (whatever works for you!).
🌺 Why is it helpful?
Grounding techniques such as this, doesn’t need to complicated. If it’s simple, you’ll remember it and use it more often… It works by interrupting your current thought cycles, which brings you into the present by helping to press the ‘pause button’ and prompts your parasympathetic nervous system into action (this calms and regulates your body)… ✨
With exam season in full flow, this can be a great one to help calm nerves. It can also support sleep difficulties, reduce general anxiety, lessen social worries, and support panic attacks…
Rule of three - see, hear, move… 🌙 ✨
