A short Q&A session , please feel free to ask your own questions relating to any of our treatments in a pm to us .

Q. HiFu , non invasive face lift , can this be applied to the neck area ?
A. This is not really an option for the neck area , firstly with any device the Thyroid and Parathyroid are must be avoided .
The lower face and jaw area has great results with HiFu.
Q. What is HiFu ?
A. HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses ultrasound energy to heat deep layers of skin, stimulating collagen production for lifting and tightening. It is widely used as a "non-surgical facelift" to treat sagging skin, wrinkles, and jowls on the face, and décolletage, with minimal downtime .

Q. Micro-needle , how does it work and what is the down time
A. Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves using fine needles to create thousands of microscopic punctures in the top layer of the skin. These controlled micro-injuries known as controlled trauma stimulate the body’s wound-healing processes, resulting in cell turnover and increased collagen and elastin production.

The procedure is performed using a specialized device that contains multiple tiny, sterile needles designed to pe*****te the skin at various depths depending on the treatment area and concerns . The depth of the needles used is prescribed by the clinician . The result is excellent !

Downtime can vary depending on the individual, from one to five days , wherein direct sunlight must be avoided and post clinic advice strictly adhered to .

Q. Cryotherapy , what is it ?
A. If you follow the latest trends in skincare and wellness, you’ve probably seen the buzz around cryotherapy facials. From celebrity endorsements to social media transformations, this cold therapy treatment has quickly become a go-to for those seeking clearer, firmer, and more radiant skin. But what exactly is a cryotherapy facial,
Q. How does Cryotherapy work?
A. The science behind cryotherapy is surprisingly simple. When cold is applied to the skin, blood vessels constrict (vasoconstriction). As soon as the skin begins to warm again, blood flow increases (vasodilation), delivering a rush of oxygen and nutrients to the area. This process helps:

–> Boost collagen production

–> Tighten pores

–> Reduce puffiness and redness

–> Calm acne inflammation

–> Brighten the complexion

Regular treatments may also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and even out skin tone over time.

These are just a few of our procedure’s on offer at SLCC … all are popular , some can be used in conjunction with another treatment , achieving a better result .

Laser Pigmented Lesion Removal , unwanted dark spots etc

Laser pigmented lesion removal is a non-invasive procedure that uses concentrated light to break down excess melanin in the skin, treating sun spots, freckles, age spots, and benign lesions. It provides a more even skin tone, usually requiring 1–3 sessions with minimal downtime. Common side effects include temporary darkening, crusting, or slight tenderness.Key Details of TreatmentHow it Works: Lasers, such as Q-switched, deliver short, high-intensity pulses that shatter pigment, which is then removed by the body's lymphatic system.Suitable Conditions: Effective for benign, superficial pigmentations like sun damage, age spots, and freckles.Common Techniques: Medical-grade laser treatments are available at specialized centers.Procedure Feeling: Treatments are often described as feeling like a light elastic band snapping against the skin.Targeted Areas:
The procedure can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.Commonly Targeted LesionsSun Spots/Age Spots (Solar Lentigines): Common on face and hands.Freckles: Generally flat, small brown spots.Melasma: Patchy, brownish pigmentation.Benign Pigmented Lesions: Non-cancerous marks. What to Expect (Before, During, and After)Preparation: Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, and fake tan for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment.Immediately After: Pigmented areas may immediately darken and develop mild crusting, which usually lasts 5–10 days.Aftercare: Avoid picking at the crusts, keep the area clean, and use sunscreen to protect the treated skin.Risks: While rare, potential side effects include temporary or permanent skin color changes (hyperpigmentation/hypopigmentation) or, less commonly, scarring. Is it Right for You?Skin Type: Treatments are most suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV.Consultation: It is crucial to have a consultation with a qualified practitioner to ensure the lesion is benign before starting treatment.Best Results: Generally, 1–3 sessions are needed for optimal results, though some cases may require up to 10–16 sessions.
This is an area wherein we get excellent results

Fine Facial Thread Vein Treatment

How the Procedure Works?

Using Technology: The practitioner uses a tiny, single-use probe (roughly the size of a human hair) to apply, but not insert, energy directly onto the vein.Thermocoagulation: This process uses heat to instantly close the vein wall, forcing it to vanish immediately.Instant Results: The treatment is often described as a "pinch" and is known for delivering immediate, visible results, often requiring only one session.
Low Risk: The treatment works at a precise 1.5mm depth, protecting surrounding tissue and reducing the risk of burns compared to other methods.
What Can Be Treated?
Facial thread veins and spider naevi.Red veins on the legs and ankles. Some skin tags, milia, and Campbell-de-Morgan spots.
Post-Treatment InformationSide Effects: Potential for mild, short-lived redness, swelling, or tiny "micro-scabs" that fade within a few hours to days.Downtime: There is generally no downtime required.Aftercare: Advice usually includes using SPF 30+ to protect the skin and avoiding strenuous activity or hot showers for a short period.

29/04/2026

Laser hair reduction is one of the most demanded services in the aesthetic sector. Both women and men are increasingly turning to this method to remove unwanted hair, which has led to the emergence of a multitude of centers dedicated exclusively to hair removal.

There are different methods of laser hair removal, so both users and aesthetics professionals can get lost between the benefits and advantages of one and the other.

How does laser hair removal work?
It is a procedure that uses heat produced by a beam of light, which removes the hair follicle and prevents hair regrowth. Types of hair removal lasers
Given all this information, you can say “okay, great, now what?” Now you have to decide which machine best suits your needs based on your customers and the above parameters. If you have to decide between diode laser or IPL, here are the main types and differences of hair removal lasers.

Alexandrite laser

The alexandrite laser uses a wavelength of 755 nm. It is fast and very effective with lighter skin and dark, fine hair.

It is particularly suitable for hair removal in the bikini line, underarms and legs. It is also suitable for men’s arms.

Diode laser

Like the alexandrite laser, it is one of the most widespread systems. The diode laser is very effective and fast. It uses a wavelength of 810 nm, which allows it to go deeper.

For this reason, it is very effective in removing hair from the back, abdomen and chest of men, although it can be used on any type of skin with dark hair, even tanned skin.

The Twinscan diode laser hair removal machine, stands out for working on any type of hair with a large spot that makes the process much faster and painless.

Nd Laser

Although it uses a longer wavelength (1064 nm) and is able to go deeper, it does not achieve as good results as alexandrite and diode. The laser is most effective at shorter wavelengths.

Ruby laser

It uses a wavelength of 695 nm, which is why it has been relegated after the appearance of the alexandrite and diode lasers. Its efficacy is lower than these two.

Soprano laser

It is a less effective system than alexandrite and diode because it does not act selectively. More sessions are needed because it emits repetitive shots during each pass.

More sessions are needed to complete the treatment or longer sessions, it is not painful and can be used on any type of skin.

IPL photoepilation

Photoepilation emits different wavelengths, can be used on all types of hair and skin, but is less effective than laser hair removal, so more sessions will be necessary.

It can also be less painful, as it is not as selective as laser.

The laser uses a specific wavelength that is absorbed by the melanin. For laser hair removal to be effective, the hair to be treated must be in the anagen phase.

The hair growth cycle consists of three phases.

Anagen phase: this lasts between 2 and 6 years. It is that of hair growth.
Catagen phase: lasts between 2 and 3 weeks. At this stage the matrix cells stop reproducing and regression occurs.
Telogen phase: during 3 to 4 months, the hair is released from the skin and falls out.
Normally, body hair is usually in the anagen phase. Several laser hair removal sessions are performed, spaced over time, to try to apply the light beam on as many hairs as possible in this phase.

It must be taken into account that hair growth in the human body is not in unison, but that each area has its own rhythm.

Characteristics of laser hair removal
The laser systems used for hair removal offer certain characteristics that indicate their effectiveness and mode of operation. For a professional it is important to know the meaning and use of the elements that make up the laser.

Wavelength

The beam of light emitted by the laser is directed at the chromophores, which are the atoms that absorb heat. These atoms can only interact with these atoms at certain wavelengths, which is why laser hair removal systems use ranges between 550 nm and 1200 nm.

The longer the wavelength, the deeper the laser reaches. This is an important point, because in order to remove the hair, the base of the hair follicle must be reached.
Which hair removal system is best?
The question you should be asking yourself is not whether ipl or diode hair removal is best, but which works best for which skin and hair type. What is important in this case is the effectiveness of the technology, and this is influenced by whether the skin is light, dark, the color of the hair or whether the skin is sensitive.

It is therefore important to be advised and consulted before starting a treatment.

Expectation in hair loss is approximately 20% at each session , hair also will appear finer in some cases .

As for pain, it will also depend on the area to be epilated, the type of skin and the sensitivity of each person.

Contraindications to laser hair removal
Although it is a safe method, in certain cases it is better to avoid its application.

Pregnancy: hormonal changes that occur in women during pregnancy can cause abnormal hair growth and changes in skin pigmentation. There are also no empirical studies on the safety of laser hair removal in pregnant women.
Medication: certain medications may cause skin wounds and other effects if laser hair removal is performed during treatment.
Photosensitizing drugs: Roacutan and Retin A (both used against acne), contraceptive pills, naproxen, ibuprofen and hydrochlorothiazide (diuretic) can cause burns.
Anticoagulant drugs: this group includes all drugs that can alter the blood clotting process, such as simtrom and aspirin.

Finally how long does it take and how about maintenance ?
Individual skin will react differently , body and facial hair also are very different , therefore the time factor is impossible to predict , but anything between 6 to 12 monthly sessions can be required . After which we strongly recommend and 3/4 monthly maintenance programme .

The basal layer , 7th down houses the hair follicle , therefore as skin shed’s so does the basal layer replenish , yes , a new follicle ! But never as many … this is why we recommend a 3/4 visits a year once treatment is completed . We often see clients from clinics who have not advised this and several years on find they are right back where they started . For those among us who understand human anatomy it really is a no brainer -:).

How Does IPL Skin Rejuvenation Work?

IPL means Intense Pulsed Light, a technology that uses more than one wavelength of light to address different skin concerns. Unlike traditional lasers, which use a single concentrated wavelength, IPL delivers a vast spectrum of light that can be sized to target specific concerns.

This versatility allows IPL to improve:

Pigmentation issues like freckles, sun spots, and age spots
Serious concerns, such as broken capillaries and rosacea
Overall skin clarity, including enlarged pores and uneven tone
IPL for pigmentation and sun damage results
How IPL Works on the Skin
The science behind IPL is based on the skin’s natural ability to absorb light and respond to heat. Here’s what happens during treatment:

Light Energy Absorption: The IPL device emits pulses of light that pe*****te the skin. The energy is absorbed by melanin (pigment) or haemoglobin (blood vessels).
Selective Photothermolysis: The absorbed light converts to heat, breaking down unwanted pigmentation or collapsing small vessels without harming surrounding tissue.
Collagen Stimulation: The gentle heat also activates fibroblast cells, encouraging collagen and elastin production, which smooths fine lines and firms the skin.
This combination makes IPL both corrective and rejuvenating.

What Skin Issues Does IPL Treat?
IPL is highly effective for a range of visible skin concerns.

Sun damage and age spots that cause uneven tone
Freckles and pigmentation that darken with sun exposure
Rosacea and redness affecting the cheeks and nose
Broken capillaries that appear as small red lines on the skin
Large pores and rough texture
Dull or tired-looking skin needing a refresh

ALL treatment begins with your safety and comfort in mind.

Consultation & Patch Test: A qualified laser clinician assesses your skin and performs a patch test to ensure suitability.
Treatment Session: A cooling gel is applied, and the handheld IPL device delivers pulses of light to the target areas.
Duration: Sessions typically last 30-45 minutes, depending on the area treated.
Sensation: Many clients describe the feeling as a quick, elastic band snap against the skin, mild and tolerable.
We at SLCC also offer Diode Laser … a continuing, moving , pain free pulse light which offers the same result , in my opinion better on general Rejuvenation and Hair reduction too .

CRYOTHERAPY Facial
If Cryotherapy is on your “ List of Facials” to Try?… Yes …we do offer this treatment and it is popular !

Cryo facials are an effective way to tighten and brighten the skin. They increase blood flow to the face, which can make the skin look healthy and plump.
These facials are so popular, in part, because they’re fast and affordable, with no downtime or redness of the skin afterward. They make a nice gift or voucher option too!

Cryotherapy facials are a noninvasive cosmetic procedure , unlike certain Peel’s or Microdermabrasion , Micro-needling, they won’t leave skin looking red or raw, basically zero down time

Really, anyone who wants a glow is a good candidate for a cryotherapy facial, especially those who feel that their skin looks tired , grey or dull.
We at SLCC tend to use these accompanied by a second add on anti ageing treatment and find we have very satisfying results,
a splendid finishing boost !
