When the treatment you ask for isn’t necessarily the treatment your skin needs…
This client came to me specifically wanting microneedling to improve her acne and skin texture.
After carrying out a thorough consultation and analysing her skin, I advised that microneedling wasn’t the right place to start.
Her skin was showing active breakouts, congestion, closed comedones and inflammation. Before introducing a collagen-stimulating treatment such as microneedling, we needed to focus on getting the skin clearer, calmer and properly decongested.
We started with targeted chemical peels and LED therapy, working to:
✨ Reduce congestion
✨ Improve the appearance of blocked pores
✨ Calm inflammation and redness
✨ Encourage clearer, healthier-looking skin
✨ Create a better foundation for future microneedling
And these results are after just 2 chemical peels + LED therapy.
The plan is now to continue improving the congestion and inflammation before introducing microneedling at the right stage, when her skin is ready to benefit from it.
This is why professional skin consultation and treatment planning are so important.
Your skin doesn’t always need the treatment you think it needs, and sometimes doing less, but doing the right thing first, gives you so much more.
I will never simply perform a treatment because it’s the one you’ve asked for. My job is to look at what is actually happening within your skin, understand what it needs and create a treatment journey around your individual skin goals. This also includes home care and diet.
Once we have the skin in a healthier, clearer place… then we can look at introducing microneedling to work on texture, scarring and overall skin quality.
I look forward to seeing her final results.
