Park and ride is a free, more sustainable way to visit Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals.

The service runs Monday - Friday.

✅ Park your car at the free car park (London Road for Maidstone Hospital or the West Kent Community Diagnostic Centre, and Knights Park for Tunbridge Wells Hospital)

✅ Jump on the free shuttle bus

✅ Get the bus back to your car.

Home remedies such as turmeric, toothpaste, eggs or ice are still commonly used to treat burns. But these can actually do more harm than good.

Anything greasy traps the heat under the greasy layer and prevents heat from escaping.

Plus, the nurse will need to remove the home remedy to treat the burn. This can be painful and distressing for a child, especially if the remedy was oily or sticky.

Instead, remember COOL, CALL, COVER
COOL the burn for 20 minutes under cool (not cold) or lukewarm running water.
CALL for help for any burn bigger than a 50p coin.
COVER the burn loosely with cling film or a clean, non-fluffy dressing or cloth.
