What did we do there then? A bit of everything: hygiene care, some oral surgery, opened up the bite, crowns, bridges, prosthetic work, bonding, whitening. It was all going down and I think they look a bit better now :)

Yes I’ve got a few high profile clients, but whatever your background, I’m here for you, for both general and cosmetic care and still see some of my clients for routine stuff.

An appreciation post for my lovely wife, fellow dentist, Ops Director, mummy and all round gem, . On instagram, we all paint a picture of a happy, perfect life or at least try to.

But juggling lots of hats-being a busy dentist doing complex dentistry day in day out, running a business and trying to look after yourself and have a family life with a little one takes its toll sometimes. Nobody has it all figured out and work life balance is an always in a tug of war.

Yet, she’s always there to pick up the pieces and get my mojo back. My rock on the good days and the difficult ones when things go off piste. Thank you and hopefully one day the late nights and sacrifices will be worth it. 😘xx

What is total mouth health ?
It’s about not doing patch up dentistry and looking at the mouth as a whole with our multi disciplinary team with experts in various fields.

That’s not to say we might still occasionally do a compromised plan that isn’t the full bells and whistles, but it will be stepping back from the ideal plan that we’d have suggested first.

We might also do phase 1 and 2, break for a year and then maybe do an implant for that missing tooth in phase 3, that wasn’t exactly a priority, but was always something on the to do list.

This is total mouth health and comprehensive dentistry you can expect at .smiles.official , with treatment completed in phases over an 18 month period with our multi disciplinary team :)

Phase 1 : Hygiene care and restore worn down back teeth
Phase 2: Invisalign and whitening. We removed LR1 at fit and painted the upper aligner in the ur4 and ul4 spaces throughout their aligner journey
Phase 3: Composite edge bonding on the top 6 teeth to improve shapes and restore the worn edges
Phase 4: Dental implants to replace ur4 and ul4 with a fixed solution as if they were never missing at all.
Phase 5 (now): Our client is now a club member .smiles.official and photos were taken at recent 3D health check. They probably need to top up their whitening, which they can at 50% off as a member. They can also enhance and maintain their skin with 10% off at , alongside a whole host of other benefits including pain free EMS hygiene care, free emergency assessments and free worldwide dental travel insurance. :)

It’s a tough conversation that occurs on an almost weekly basis at .smiles.official . We get enquiries from people who’ve had “Turkey Teeth” or work done abroad.

They yelp at us for help via WhatsApp or Instagram or badger reception on the phone: “My implant bridge has come off!”, “My crown is loose!”, “My gums are killing”…can you fix it for me? Pleassssseeee.

The issue is it’s often not a simple quick fix and we are busy enough without taking on the extra hassle of finding out that the implant system used is not compatible with what we use in the UK or that actually all the crowns are linked or splinted together and it’s impossible to fix one on its own…

Granted wherever you have dental work done, be it the UK or abroad, there will be issues at some point. This might be on day 5 or year 5, but you will invariably need something re doing and it might be very minor like just tightening an implant screw or removing some excess cement or adjusting the bite, but if you’ve had it done abroad, you can’t just sprint back and not many UK dentists will be eager to touch it for fear of owning a problem not of their making.

After care is paramount to everything we do .smiles.official; with free emergency assessments and worldwide dental insurance for all our members and follow ups for all advanced care to make sure everything is as we planned it initially.

Moral of the story: Don’t be a silly sausage 😜and get your dental work done in the UK. Everything we do here is quality assured and regulated and we can source all components or remake anything with ease. No flights. No faff. No tension :)

A classic .smiles.official rehab:
1) Get the hygiene bang on with our top hygiene team using technology and replace all the old fillings quadrant by quadrant and raise the bite by restoring the worn lower anteriors
2) Whiten and digital smile design
3) Surgical gum lift and long term temporaries to get the bite and phonetics right
4) 8 ceramic units to replace old work, improve proportions, brighten and widen the smile like we were never there :)
5) Review maintenance as a Sheffield smiles club member to keep things as best as we can. Photos at 6 months.
