Not your average art class.
Not better, not worse. That all depends on what you're looking for anyway.
We deliver truth and honesty, and always value them over pretty aesthetics. We learn to learn, we try, fail then try again.
Our space is a place where eyes shine up when I say "storytime", and hands grip confidently when I say "go for it".
Then we finish with a bunch of "unfinished" works but a hell of a lot more content in the head to fuel the future ones. Or the same ones, repeated.

We are not perfect, we are just different.

At the first session of our brand new Learning to See workshops we learned that drawing is 4 dimensional.

I felt like I needed to make a statement on why and how not to expect the average art workshop experience when someone meets us the first time.
We are different.
In many ways.
Yes,I even go and draw on children's works, just like that.

•we aim to nurture childrens minds first, then their eyes and hands. No step-by-step, alien drawing projects but understandable and clear method to learn how to see and understand the world around.

•we graft. Drawing or painting is 99% relies on NOT natural talent, but honest and hard work. Ask the masters themselves.

•we mix philosophy, geography, theology, history, science and anthropology into our sessions, because art is all of them at the same time.

•we are based around stories, discussions and debates.About works, lives, nature, war, trends and anything that needs to be covered to fully engage with a piece of art, a person lived long ago, or the friend sitting opposite the table. This offers invaluable experience and support to children who struggle with practical skills, gives new layers of knowledge and belief to all who tend to scratch the surface of everything to get a deeper thought.

•we embrace fundamentals while fully supporting style over "soulless" projects. We copy, copy, copy until each and every child find their own style. It doesn't happen over time, and it changes all the time.

I hope we get each other now.
Cheers
Niki

As abstract is not my first choice, planning a meaningful workshop around it is key to me. And here we have it, abstract filled with meaning as a first try for this great gang od children.

Proving how much of a badass Munch was, the kids had a go at simplifying expressions and capturing them with limited amounts of marks.
