We received usage reports of helping save a 4-year-old boy who choked on a foreign body, a 10-month-old girl who choked on a piece of pancake, a 1½-year-old girl who choked on a strawberry, a 2-year-old boy who choked on a piece of hot dog, and a 1-year-old boy who choked on cereal. Super super grateful that this arrived from The Oliver Steeper Foundation as a donation to my setting! The childrens safety is always my top priority and having this as a precaution if first aid doesn't work in a choking incident gives me peace of mind. Charity is at the heart of Banana Moon and this , we’re celebrating two partnerships making a real difference.

Little hearts, bright futures – in partnership with CardiAid, we’ve installed an AED at every Banana Moon nursery, providing protection and support for our settings and communities.

Big moments, bright futures – alongside The Oliver Steeper Foundation, we’ve installed LifeVac anti-choking devices across our nurseries, helping to keep our little ones and teams safe in an emergency.

We received incredible usage reports of helping save a 1-year-old boy who choked on bread/mucus, an 11-month-old girl who choked on a hard foreign body, a 1-year-old boy who choked on a cheese puff, a 91-year-old male who choked on a piece of burger, a 2-year-old girl who choked on a chicken nugget, a 44-year-old female who choked on a crouton, a 92-year-old female who choked on a piece of chicken, a 40-year-old female who choked on a piece of bagel, and an 82-year-old female who choked on vegetables from her soup. This arrived today and will be kept in the Community Lounge, should we ever need it.

Important note: Our team is first-aid trained and understands that this device should only be used after the standard first-aid procedures for choking have been attempted.

We purchased it through the Oliver Steeper Foundation. I paid for it personally rather than using charity funds—because, well…we don’t currently have any. 😉 But if having it at the centre could help prevent a death, then it absolutely needs to be here.

Hopefully, it will remain untouched forever—but it’s reassuring to know it’s available.
