It’s a few days early as Jodi is working the overnights and I won’t have my trusted camera lady 😂

Top 5 things I’m proud of that I achieved in August:

1. Weight = 76.2kg - approx 1kg drop from July - might not sound much but my primary goal is performance, not fat/ weight loss.

2. I continue to prioritise movement! I’m in the top 1% of ‘steppers’ on Garmin (again!) and another month of 500,000+ steps! 🙌

3. My longest run to date - 30km’s!!! Massive accomplishment!

4. Quickest half marathon ever - 1 hour 48mins. Incredibly proud of this.

5. Balanced my performance and health goals with looking after Lily (my daughter) full time and driving the business forward - no mean feat!!!!

Moving into September I would like to achieve the following:

1. Drop another 1-2kg in body fat.

2. Compete with Pam Noël in our first Tryka event! Planned for Sunday 6th September 💪

3. Break into the 90+ score for sleep - I missed this last month.l (scoring 87).

4. Achieve a sub 1 hour 45min half marathon.

5. Complete 10 interval sprint sessions - stepping this up in prep for Hyrox in December 😊

As we approach the end of the day let this message sink in.

Anyone can follow a meal plan or stick to calories and protein goals their coach has issued them for a short period of time. That’s may give you some incredible short term results but will almost certainly not give you anything to hold on to long term.

It’s vital that you look at your behaviours that surround why your health goals suffered in the first place - sleep routine, hydration, nutritional education (macros, micronutrients etc), stress/ emotional management etc.

Management and improvement of your behaviours and habits is what will allow you to sustain your short term results 🙂

When you are trying to lose weight/ fat you need to implement a calorie deficit - this is a principle and non-negotiable.

How you implement that deficit is important.

What most people do…… Cut food groups, significantly reduce their caloric (food and drink) intake and create an environment and approach that lasts all of 5 minutes! Followed by ‘I’ve tried everything, nothing works for me’ 🙄

My advice - if you want to implement an ‘aggressive deficit’ understand that this is ok, but you should do so with caution and with certain non-negotiable aspects - resistance training, adequate protein, quality and quantity sleep consistency are just some of the things you need to be able to deliver and prioritise.

Regardless of the size of the deficit, it’s important you enjoy your food and find meals you can enjoy and feed into your goals (high protein for example).

A favourite meal of mine attached 😜🙂

Another interval running session - 4 mins running at Hyrox race pace (13kph - 4.37min kilometres) and 2mins walking.

Repeat 8 times.

Quietly working hard on myself.

It’s the 1st of the month and a perfect time for a check in 🙌

Top 5 things I’m proud of that I achieved in July:

1. Weight = 77.2kg - approx 2kg drop from June.

2. I have moved - I mean I’ve seriously moved! I’m in the top 1% of ‘steppers’ on and just under 20,000 steps per day!

3. My HRV is averaging around 86 - a greater marker that I am recovering well from the training.

4. My sleep score is averaging 89 for the month. Room for improvement but really positive.

5. My ‘fitness age’ is 31 - 8 years lower than my actual age 🤩

Moving into August I would like to achieve the following:

1. Drop another 1-2kg in body fat.

2. Hold my average step count at around 18-20k per day.

3. Break into the 90+ score for sleep.

4. Achieve a sub 1 hour 50min half marathon.

5. Increase my VO2 to 53+

Let’s go 💪

Isn’t it amazing what can be achieved in 30 days 🤩

Corina trusted me to coach her towards her health and weight loss goals on July 1st 2026.

Today she completed a 30 day check on…… safe to say she is happy!

When we were exchanging messages this morning Corina said “that’s CRAZY. How is that possible in 30 days”.

Unconditional permission to eat. No foods off limits. Simply implementing the basics alongside DAILY coaching support and accountability.

This could be you in 30 days….. reach out for a chat 😊

Why strength training matters for weight loss

A calorie deficit makes you lose weight regardless if you strength train or not.

However, strength training helps influence WHAT that weight is.

✅ It helps preserve muscle mass

When you’re in a calorie deficit, your body can lose both fat and muscle. You DON’T want to lose muscle. Resistance training provides the stimulus needed to help retain lean muscle tissue.

✅ It improves body composition

Maintaining muscle while reducing body fat often results in a leaner, more toned appearance - what everyone really wants.

✅ It helps maintain strength

Strength training allows you to retain (and sometimes even improve) strength while dieting, making everyday tasks and future training easier.

✅ It supports metabolic health

Muscle requires energy to maintain. Preserving muscle helps minimise the reduction in energy expenditure that naturally occurs during weight loss. This ISN’T as dramatic as what social influences will lead you to be believe (6-7 calories per lb of weight) but it all adds up!
