This morning, just after 5am, rope in hand, I headed out in to my garden.
With the sun creeping over the horizon, I enjoyed a few minutes practicing my rope flow, gently waking up my body, my mind and my spirit.
It was nothing fancy, no advanced patterns, just practice.
Something I like to remind myself of, is to approach everything I do with a beginners mind. Whether this is movement, breathwork, meditation, martial arts, or life itself, it is the that basics matter.
It is all too easy to look for the next technique, the next shortcut, or the next breakthrough. However real progress is often found in coming back to the fundamentals and refining them over time.
I am still very much a beginner when it comes to rope flow. Some patterns feel natural. Others feel awkward, especially on my non dominant side. But this is exactly why I continue.
Being a beginner teaches patience, it teaches humility, and it teaches tolerance for mistakes and compassion for yourself when things do not go to plan.
Most importantly, it reminds me that growth is a process.
What practice, skill, or habit are you currently learning to be a beginner at?
Have a wonderful day my friends.
Big love
Graham
