We’ve talked about omega 6… so what about omega 3?

Omega 3 is an essential fat that our bodies need, with EPA and DHA being particularly important.

For women in midlife, omega 3 is relevant to so many areas we’re often thinking about:

• Brain & concentration – DHA supports normal brain function
• Mood & emotional wellbeing – omega 3 is an important part of healthy brain and nervous system function
• Heart health – increasingly important as we move through menopause and beyond
• Eyes & vision – DHA helps maintain normal vision
• Aches & recovery – omega 3 is involved in the body’s normal inflammatory processes
• Skin, scalp & hair – healthy fats are important building blocks for our cells
• Cellular health – EPA and DHA become part of our cell membranes, helping them stay fluid and flexible

And that last one is really interesting.

When our cell membranes become more rigid, it can make it harder for nutrients to move into the cells and for waste products to move out efficiently.

Think of the cell membrane almost like a doorway. We want it flexible enough to allow what the cell needs in and what it no longer needs out.

This is another reason why the balance between the different fats in our diet matters.

We need both omega 6 and omega 3, but many of us naturally consume much more omega 6 than omega 3 through our modern diet.

The BalanceTest looks at what is actually present in your blood, including your EPA and DHA levels, your omega 6 to omega 3 balance and an indication of your cell membrane health.

Because rather than guessing whether your fatty acids are in balance, you can actually measure them.

What if some of the changes you’ve been putting down to stress, getting older or just not feeling like yourself are actually connected to perimenopause or menopause?

When we think about menopause, hot flushes are often the first thing that comes to mind.

But for many women, the first signs can be much less obvious.

You might notice:

• Your sleep isn’t what it used to be
• Your concentration or memory feels different
• You’re experiencing brain fog
• You feel more anxious or your mood has changed
• Your joints or body seem to ache more
• Your energy has dipped
• Your periods have started to change
• You’re experiencing hot flushes or night sweats
• Or you simply don’t feel quite like yourself

And you don’t need to wait until your periods have stopped before seeking support.

As a Menopause Lifestyle Practitioner, I offer one-to-one support to help you understand what may be happening during this stage of life and look at realistic lifestyle changes that can support your wellbeing.

There is no standard menopause plan because there is no standard menopause experience.

Your support is tailored around you, your symptoms, your lifestyle and what you want help with most.

And because sessions can be offered virtually, you don’t need to live locally to The Wellness Room to work with me.

If this sounds like you, message me now to book your menopause support session 💟

What a lovely surprise to wake up to this Sunday morning 💜

I’ve just discovered that the Maldon & Burnham Standard shared my story yesterday, highlighting my menopause work and my recent Holistic Therapist of the Year – Essex award.

Alongside my menopause support, I also offer a range of holistic therapies from The Wellness Room, all centred around helping women feel supported, relaxed and cared for.

Feeling incredibly grateful for the recognition and for everyone who continues to support my little business 💟

Aching joints? Feeling more tired than usual? Brain fog making everything feel that little bit harder?

It can be easy to put it all down to menopause, getting older or simply having too much going on.

But sometimes it’s worth looking at what else might be influencing how we feel.

Take Omega-3.

Most of us have heard that it’s “good for us”, and you may already associate it with joint health.

But Omega-3 has other important roles within the body too, including supporting normal heart & brain function.

But have you heard of Omega-6?

Omega-6 is another type of fat that our bodies need. We get it from many of the foods we eat, including nuts, seeds & vegetable oils.

So it isn’t about Omega-3 being “good” & Omega-6 being “bad”. We need both.

What’s interesting is the balance between the two.

It’s something I’ve been looking into much more closely recently, and there’s far more to it than I originally realised.

So over the next few weeks, I’m going to be sharing some of what I’ve learnt, without overwhelming you with the science.

Because sometimes understanding a little more about what’s happening inside your body can help you start asking the right questions.

Had you heard of Omega-6 before?

✨ MENOPAUSE & YOUR EYELASHES… DID YOU KNOW? ✨

When we think about perimenopause & menopause, we often hear about thinning hair.

But did you know that some women also notice changes to their eyelashes?

They may seem finer, shorter or less full than they once were. Whilst this isn’t something everyone experiences, it can be another change associated with fluctuating hormones & the natural ageing process.

If you’ve noticed a difference, you’re certainly not alone.

When choosing a lash serum, it’s worth looking beyond the before & after photos and taking a closer look at what’s inside the bottle.

Some lash serums contain prostaglandin analogues, ingredients that are designed to encourage lashes to remain in their natural growth phase for longer. Prostaglandin analogue-containing lash serums have been associated with side effects in some people, including eye irritation, redness, itching, darkening of the eyelid skin and changes to the delicate tissues around the eyes.

That’s one of the reasons I chose Tropic Lashful Lash Growth Serum.

💚 Free from prostaglandins & hormone disruptors, making it suitable for sensitive eyes & contact lens wearers.

🌿 Biomimetic Plant Peptides help support the natural lash growth cycle.

💪 Panthenol (Vitamin B5) helps condition & strengthen lashes, reducing breakage while improving resilience & elasticity.

💧 Hyaluronic Acid provides lasting hydration to help keep lashes soft & supple.

✨ Phytosomes help enhance the delivery & effectiveness of the active ingredients.

The precision dome tip applies the serum along the lash line, whilst the conditioning brush coats every lash from root to tip.

In an independent clinical study commissioned by Tropic, 85% of participants had visibly longer-looking lashes after 8 weeks.

Because feeling like yourself again isn’t just about managing symptoms. Sometimes it’s the little things, like looking in the mirror and seeing healthy-looking, beautifully conditioned lashes looking back at you. 💜

✨ If you’re local, I’d be delighted to help you choose the right products for you.

“How are you?”

It’s one of the most common questions we ask…

Yet how often do we answer it honestly?

Someone asks how we are & before we’ve even thought about it, the words “I’m fine” come out.

But are we?

Sometimes “I’m fine” really means:

• I’m exhausted.
• I’m overwhelmed.
• I’m worried.
• I’m just getting through today.

We often say we’re fine because it’s easier than explaining how we really feel.

Maybe today, if someone asks how you are, pause for just a second before you answer.

You might be surprised by what you’d really like to say.

💟 Have you ever caught yourself saying “I’m fine” when you weren’t?

Your skin is changing… but menopause doesn’t get the final say.

Or perhaps life has simply become so busy that you’ve forgotten what it feels like to truly relax.

If your skin feels drier, more sensitive or less radiant than it once did… if your mind feels full… if you’re carrying tension in your face, neck & shoulders… this is your invitation to pause.

My Menopause Support Facial has been thoughtfully created for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, or simply anyone longing to slow down & reconnect with themselves.

Using luxurious Tropic skincare, every part of this treatment has been chosen with purpose.

✨ Gentle lymphatic drainage encourages healthy circulation & supports the skin’s natural glow.

✨ Acupressure helps melt away areas of tension while encouraging deep relaxation.

✨ Crystal gua sha gently lifts, soothes & revitalises the skin.

✨ Vagus nerve calming techniques are woven throughout the treatment to encourage your body’s natural relaxation response, helping you move from feeling constantly “switched on” to peacefully at ease.

✨ A slow, nurturing scalp massage helps release tension held in the scalp, encourages a sense of calm & often leaves the mind feeling quieter and clearer.

✨ A soothing neck, shoulder & décolletage massage eases muscular tightness, encourages relaxation & creates space to simply let go of the weight you’ve been carrying.

For one beautiful hour…

…there is nowhere else to be.

Nothing else to do.

No one needing anything from you.

Just gentle touch, peaceful surroundings & permission to completely switch off.

Because sometimes the most important thing you can do isn’t to push through…

…it’s to pause.

To breathe.

To receive.

Your skin deserves nourishment.
Your body deserves kindness.
Your nervous system deserves rest.
And you deserve to leave feeling like yourself again 💟

If your skin never quite looks the same twice… this could be why

Redness that flares up
Uneven tone that won’t settle
Skin that suddenly feels more reactive than it used to

For many women, this can start to show up more during perimenopause & menopause as changes in hormones can affect the skin barrier, hydration & sensitivity

When Calm & Correct started appearing in routines, the visible changes were clear but what stood out even more were the conversations that followed

Skin looking more even
Redness appearing softer
Tone feeling more balanced

Because Calm & Correct is designed to do exactly that visibly neutralise redness using colour-correcting pigments adapt to your natural skin tone for a more even-looking complexion provide daily SPF 50 protection support a calmer, more settled skin barrier over time with consistent use

It’s not just about covering

It’s supporting your skin in the background helping to soothe visible sensitivity & protect against everyday triggers like UV exposure

And that’s where the shift happens

People feeling more comfortable in their own skin again
Skin feeling less reactive
More predictable day to day

Because when your skin feels calmer
you stop trying to fix it & start supporting it properly

If your skin has been feeling out of balance or you’re noticing more redness, sensitivity or uneven tone

Send me a message & I’ll help you keep it simple & choose what your skin actually needs right now 💟
