๐ง Drinking enough water every day is an important part of my pro-ageing and slow-ageing approach. We already know water is fantastic for our wellbeing. Hydration starts from within, with adequate fluid intake supporting your body's tissues, including your skin โจ๏ธ๐ฅ๐
Many people are realising that applying water topically through slathering on multiple creams and serums often isn't the best way for sufficiently hydrating skin. Skin can feel 'tight' / dehydrated soon after. (Skincare that contains water can contain some preservatives, emulsifiers, or other ingredients which may irritate or compromise the barrier in some people, making skin feel even LESS hydrated!)
I constantly have my water bottle with me and drink well over two litres a day. But I donโt just drink plain water:
โ๏ธ I love my classic English breakfast tea in the daytime. ๐ต My ritual is enjoying an organic Green Tea and Peppermint blend - a source of antioxidant-rich green tea polyphenols.
> Pro-tip: I prefer to sip regularly throughout the day rather than drinking huge amounts all at once. It feels much better for me and helps me stay consistently hydrated.
My Secret Combo ๐๐ค
I often apply pure, organic aloe vera first. It is free from synthetics and is incredibly skin-barrier-friendly. I follow with my waterless, 100% organic face oil and balm using face yoga massage. These products deeply nourish and give the skin barrier a protective lipid layer that stops our internal hydration from escapingโlocking in water, helping to prevent transepidermal water loss (TEWL), and supporting our skin's natural shield ๐
