I thought I'd explain, why I chose the name Family Wellbeing Services — and the truth is, it reflects everything I want the service to stand for.

👨‍👩‍👧 Family
Because children don’t exist in isolation.
When a child is struggling, it impacts:
Parents
Siblings
Relationships
Routines
School life
Everyday family functioning
Supporting a child often means supporting the whole family system around them.

🌿 Wellbeing
Because I don’t believe the focus should be purely on diagnosis.
I fully recognise the importance and value of diagnosis — but it isn’t always the thing that changes day-to-day life the most.
Sometimes, what really helps is:
Understanding why things feel difficult
Recognising sensory needs
Improving sleep
Finding clearer ways to communicate
Reducing overwhelm and demands
Supporting emotional regulation
Helping parents understand their child — and themselves — more deeply

🧩 Services
Because families rarely need just one thing.

Family Wellbeing Services is developing to bring together:
Neurodevelopmental profiling
Assessment
Sleep support
Parent support
Consultancy
Practical, tailored interventions
All with one goal:
👉 Flexibility to meet the real needs of each individual family.

💬 The bigger question

I didn’t want to build something that only asks:
“Does this child meet criteria for a diagnosis?”

I want us to ask:
“What is happening for this child and their family — and what could genuinely make everyday life better?”

💛 That’s why it’s Family Wellbeing Services. 💛
“What is happening for this child and their family — and what would genuinely improve everyday life?”

💛 That’s why it’s called Family Wellbeing Services. 💛

Just wanted to say welcome to all the new people following Family Wellbeing Services page.

I've had some questions about the Neurodevelopmental Profiling. So I thought I'd share my views, and how they underpin the values behind Family Wellbeing Services.

I don’t disagree with diagnosis.

I actually think diagnosis can be incredibly important. It can bring understanding, validation, access to support and, for some people, finally make sense of a lifetime of experiences.

But I don’t think a diagnosis is always the thing that makes the biggest difference to someone’s life.

Because a diagnosis doesn’t automatically tell us:

✨ Why bedtime is so difficult
✨ Why school feels overwhelming
✨ Why emotions become too much
✨ What sensory experiences are causing distress
✨ Why family life feels exhausting
✨ What a child needs to feel safe and regulated
✨ What practical changes might actually help

Sometimes we become so focused on answering “What is the diagnosis?” that we forget to ask:

“What is making life difficult right now — and what could make it better?”

That question is at the heart of why I’m developing Family Wellbeing Services.

Diagnosis when it’s helpful.
Understanding whether there’s a diagnosis or not.
And, most importantly, practical support that makes a difference to everyday family life.

Because ultimately, the goal isn’t just a diagnosis.

It’s a better quality of life. 💛

I've spent the day updating my knowledge on sleep, autism and anxiety. It was a good chance to remind myself why I love sleep work...with anyone. Good quality and quantity of sleep can make such a difference to lives.

Sprucing up the page to show a more accurate reflection of what is currently offered.

Due to COVID, and a busy home life, community groups are no longer on offer. Though I will continue to share other Relax Kids coaches groups in the local area.

Instead of groups, I've been working with families (both virtually, and face to face) to help them achieve their goals. Be it emotional regulation, sleep or supporting families with struggles around managing 'stuff'- be that behaviours that are causing tension in the family, support around understanding how autism impacts the individual (and inevitably the family).

I have a network of other people that I can recommend, should that be more appropriate
