A lot of the strength and resilience I carry today, is because of this man.

I woke up one morning in my first year at uni, at 19 and there was a dark shadow in the top corner of my vision.

Later in the day I spoke to my nurse housemate about it and he said we had to go to A&E.

We were referred straight to Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and he drove me all the way in, from Hertfordshire. This was now pretty much midnight.

I was admitted to the ward that night with a retinal detachment in my left eye and had essentially emergency surgery the next day to save as much vision as they could in my eye.

The operation was successful, although ultimately I’ve lost nearly all my vision in that eye. I had a second detachment, laser treatment and 5 operations over the next few years. I still have a check up once a year, 22 years later.

The time before last I was there a lady from A&E recognised me from the first night I came in. It’s been a strange constant for all of my adult life.

What I celebrate most about this version of me is my absolute focus, determination and resilience.

There was absolutely no way I wasn’t finishing my degree. It wasn’t even a possibility. I was once given the choice of local or general anaesthetic for an op and chose local because I’d be out and back in time to sit my Maths exam.

I had access to such willpower, desire and single mindedness that it inspires me today to honour that version of me. This past version knew pain that I previously didn’t know was possible, fought through it and still smiled with an unbreakable will.

The level of surrender and acceptance I had no choice but to embody has helped me in so many ways since then.

My time at uni, with all of this going on was absolutely incredible. I’ll always remember the words of the Vice Chancellor on my first day “Work hard, party hard and remember your parents birthdays’”

My Masters year we designed and built the world first (at the time) hydrogen powered single seater racing car and won the Formula Student event at Silverstone.

When I release the shame, fear, competition, comparison and allow the walls between myself and other men to dissolve…

When I see brothers around me, not threats, not men who would seek to do me harm, emotionally or physically…

Something deep down shifts in my nervous system, in the depths of my being.

Space. Not the kind of space that I create as a form of safety mechanism. Not the desire to be a lone wolf, proving over and over again that I can handle everything on my own.

The kind of space that allows my true self to breathe.

Maybe for the first time ever.

Maybe taking the deepest inhale I’ve ever taken.

Feeling a profound depth of safety in my own body, in a room full of men on the same journey, brothers who have my back and I have theirs.

The privilege to say I have your back brother.

The honour to say I love you brother.

That kind of space longs to be filled.

With love, fu***ng absolutely unabated joy, playfulness, and a level of openness that will set your heart on fire.

Watching a room full of men who long to be free move their bodies is an incredible sight.

Men liberated from how they thought they were supposed to be.

How I thought I was supposed to be.

What I thought it was supposed to look like to be a man.

F**k that. This is how I do it. This is how I show up.

This is me.

If you want this, brother. Step in. Your seat around the fire is already waiting for you.

Breathwork has been life changing for me, from mystical realms I’ve travelled, to the profound feeling of nervous system regulation. Conscious connection to the movement of the breath through the body has led to me feeling more *in* my body.

Sharing circles offer the possibility of being seen, and being heard in my truth. Bravery and vulnerability leads to greater connection; to self and in relating with others.

I feel a call to combine the two. In Breathe & Connect sessions we will breathe together, quietening the mind and settling the body to hear the quite voice of intuition and what really feels alive.

Then we connect, we form a circle, ancient technology of equals. We share what feels alive in this moment, no rehearsal, no need for perfection or a fully formed and resolved idea.

The rawness, the realness, the aliveness. This is what moves through us.

These two are the first of those such sessions.

One for all bodies, one as a men’s circle.

There is a free registration link in my bio if you’d like to come.

If you feel the call to attend but these dates / times don’t work, please let me know down below and I’ll try to arrange some with the most frequently suggested.

That which I, as a being of consciousness thinks on, intellectualises, problem solves or worries over getting right.

The heart already knows. My heart already knows.

A knowing born from the truth of life itself.

A steady, rhytmic pulse that, if I listen closely enough, will show me the way.

Accessing that truth, is like turning the dial on a radio, tuning into the frequency of the station I want to listen to.

It's a conscious choice to tune my consciousness, the receptors in my being, to the frequency that my heart is transmitting.

Moving through the noise, the messages that don't serve me.

Avoiding the static of muffled signals, that which is not true for me.

Finally reaching the resonant frequency, alignment, clarity.

The messages come through clearly, I have good reception.

I can hear the wisdom of my heart speaking to me.

How can you tune into the wisdom of your heart?

Stop. Sit in silence, sit with the breath, sit with yourself.

Sit in those moments that feel uncomfortable, where you want to do anything but be with youself.

It might be quick, it might take a long time, it might start quiet, it might be a scream.

You will hear the wisdom of your heart, when you conscious choose to take the time to listen for it.
