We're getting close!

After months of planning, testing, learning and building, we're nearly ready to launch a completely new Odda.

The idea behind Odda is simple: help older people stay independent in their own home for longer, while giving their families reassurance that they're okay.

Odda uses small, smart sensors around the home to understand everyday routine and spot changes. Not surveillance. Not a replacement for care. Just reassurance, built with real respect for someone's home, privacy and independence.

I've been testing the system for months - in real homes, with real families - because I refused to launch something I didn't trust myself. Getting it right mattered more than getting it out quickly.

A little update from Odda

You may have noticed that things have been a little quiet here recently.

That’s because behind the scenes, I’ve been working on something bigger, better and really exciting for Odda.

There’s still a lot of work to do, so for now the Odda website has been put on hold while I focus on building what comes next.

I’m not quite ready to share everything yet… but I’m very excited about where Odda is heading.

🚪 Door Sensor

Did you know that something as simple as a door sensor can provide valuable reassurance for families?

A door sensor is placed discreetly on a front door (or any frequently used door) and records when it is opened and closed. It doesn't use a camera or microphone, so your loved one's privacy is always respected.

It can help identify changes in daily routines, such as:
• Leaving the house at unusual times.
• Not leaving the house at all.
• Leaving the house during the night.
• Unexpected activity that may indicate something isn't quite right.

On its own, a door sensor provides useful information. Combined with other smart sensors around the home, it helps build a clearer picture of someone's wellbeing and can highlight changes before they become bigger problems.

Technology isn't about replacing people—it's about providing reassurance, supporting independence, and helping older adults stay safely in their own homes for longer.

THE MULTIFUNCTION SENSOR

Not every change in someone's health starts with an emergency.
Sometimes it begins with something much smaller... walking less, spending more time sitting down, or no longer following their usual routine.

That's where the Multifunction Sensor comes in.

Placed discreetly on a wall, it monitors movement around the home. There are no cameras, no microphones and nothing to wear - just a small sensor quietly learning everyday routines.

Over time, it helps build a picture of normal life:
Is someone getting up as usual?
Are they moving between rooms as they normally do?
Has their day or night-time routine changed?
Has their overall activity suddenly reduced?

On its own, movement data is just data.

But when combined with human insight, it can highlight subtle changes that may deserve attention before they become bigger problems.

At ODDA, technology doesn't replace people- it helps us ask better questions, have better conversations with families, and recognise when something may not be quite right.

💧HUMIDITY SENSOR

How can a bathroom sensor tell if someone's routine has changed?

This small sensor quietly monitors the humidity levels in the bathroom.
Every time someone has a shower or bath, the humidity naturally rises. Over time, it learns what is normal for that person and helps build a picture of their daily routine.

For someone living alone, changes in this routine can sometimes be meaningful.

For example:
Someone who usually showers every morning suddenly stops.
Shower times become much shorter or less frequent.
Daily routines begin to change without anyone noticing.

A humidity sensor doesn't tell us why something has changed - it simply records what it detects.

That's where human insight matters.

At ODDA, we look beyond the data. We review patterns over time, compare them with information from other sensors in the home, and identify meaningful changes that families may want to be aware of.

A fall doesn't just affect the person who falls.

It affects the son who worries, the daughter who rushes to the hospital, and the family who suddenly faces difficult decisions.

The same can be true for UTIs, infections, poor sleep, or reduced mobility.

By the time a problem becomes obvious, it may already have led to hospital appointments, long recovery periods, physiotherapy, and a loss of confidence or independence.

Our NHS does an incredible job, but it is under immense pressure. Waiting lists are long, appointments can be difficult to access, and recovery often takes much longer than people expect.
