We are sorry to say that after around eight years at The Pump Room we are no longer going to be running our local Arts and Crafts Giftshop, An Seòmar and our Sweetshop, alongside the museum Spa Exhibition and the Information Point for the village and area. This is a decision we have made after a great deal of thought and discussion, but a number of circumstances have changed for us and within the area, so we recently made our final decision to cease all aspects of our proprietorship at The Pump Room. We are likely to carry on at markets or other events once they start up again, but are looking forward to taking a break this season.
We would like to thank all the colleagues we have worked with in other organisations and businesses, volunteers who have helped out in so many ways, people who have loaned items for the museum exhibition and people who have done events or performed there.
We would like to thank all the artists and crafters whose beautiful pieces we have been able to promote and sell in our Giftshop, all the other lovely makers and gift suppliers and the sources of our supplies of traditional sweets, chocolates and of course Orkney Ice Cream.
We would give a big thank you to all the thousands of visitors to The Pump Room from near and far. Most of whom have enjoyed the museum exhibition and architecture and who have supported us as a local, small business, by buying a Highland made product or just a bag of treats from our wee sweetshop in the entrance.
We hope all of you have been safe and well throughout these unusual times and wish you all health and happiness for the future.
We don’t yet know the intended future for the Pump Room, but wish future visitors and users an enjoyable and successful time and hope they too enjoy and care for this historic building with its fine example of Victorian architecture and one of the few, if not the only surviving spa water Pump Room in Scotland.
A few people have thought we are leaving Strathpeffer, but we can confirm you don’t get rid of us that easily! Though we may miss seeing folk in our shop and will be enjoying a few more trips away once Covid 19 allows it, we will still to see you about in the village or at markets. Thanks again from the four of us. 😘🐾
