Sage totally embodying my mood of hot and bothered, unmotivated, and masses of pent up energy all at the same time. Can’t beat evening yoga in the garden with the birdsong though 🎵 🌱🐶

✨Class change✨
My Friday afternoon restorative class is getting a Spring glow up and becoming Flow and Restore. It’s a nourishing yoga flow class designed to energise and release tension. It will still be plenty restorative, with a series of juicy nervous system-soothing postures and Savasana to finish. We’re aiming for balanced and rested, ready for the weekend. If you’re local and you’d like to try it for free, add TASTER at checkout. Booking link in bio 🙏🏼

Today is spring equinox - joy! 🌷🌹 I’m between teaching yoga classes and usually this space would be filled with washing, cleaning, sorting. Instead I’m in the garden with my tea and my knitting, soaking in this glorious sun. Today marks the balance between light and dark - 12 hours of each. Which means tomorrow marks the return of the light. In yoga you can honour this time with balancing poses like tree, deep twists to help clear the stagnant energy of winter, and heart openers like camel to harness and receive that spring energy. Off the mat, perhaps you reflect on what balance means to you - where you have it, where you’d like to cultivate more. Our aim is not for life to be perfect and without challenge - those punches are gonna come. But to practise Samatva, a response of equanimity, so we can roll more with them when they do. So how do we do this? We come back to ourselves. To our breath, to our body, to our feelings, to the moment. And we meet what we find there with compassion.

I have to jump on this 2016 trend. That was a year to remember! We were living Down Under, I was teaching yoga by night and at an English school in the day, travelling around, doing yoga at every location we stopped ever (why though?? Poor Sam! 😆) - I spent a LOT of time upside down 🤨 We’d settled in Brisbane the year before but Van life was in full swing. We were weekend warriors, climbing, surfing, driving down to Byron Bay whenever we could, drinking an inordinate amount of green juice (cause, you know, Byron Bay 🤷‍♀️), listening to Xavier Rudd on repeat. Then came May, and a surprise - I was pregnant, and equal amounts excited and terrified. We cancelled a trip to Borneo as I couldn’t face it with the brutal morning (all day) sickness and went to the Blue Mountains instead, where at the top of a mountain Sam proposed (pic 14). I was so surprised it took me a full minute to answer 🌪️ The bump grew, and grew, and grew, and I had the most awesome, unfettered, wild pregnancy, living in paradise - what an experience! The final pic is cheating as it’s early 2017… and now, fast forward and in two days baby Eden turns 9 ❤️ It’s been such a joy to look back at 2016. I could have easily uploaded 2000 photos, not 20. I didn’t know it then, but 2016 marked the end of my ‘old’ life. Since then it’s been full of love and abundance but I’ve also spent much of the last decade feeling frazzled and exhausted to be honest 🥴 It’s pretty sweet to look back at 2016 Sarah having all that fun, and doing all that yoga 😂 #2016

I had a really lovely final day of holiday before I go back to work tomorrow. I started with a beautiful restorative yoga class with , had a very satisfying few hours taking down all the Christmas decorations (I love it - I’m weird!), and then a fire and hot chocolate in the garden. Sharon’s class this morning had loads of time for reflection. My favourite quote from her: ‘January isn’t the start of the year, it’s the pause that makes the rest of the year possible’ YES! Love that. It’s really reminded me that January is not an enemy, and had me considering in what ways I will slow down more. One suggestion in her story was to sit and watch the river. This sounds really lush to me right now (clearly I’m tired after the Christmas holidays 🥴)

Happy 2026. I love New Year! There’s a lot of rhetoric against the whole ‘New Year New You’ thing, which I totally get. It’s not the best time to go hell-for-leather when you’re knackered after Christmas (for most people the festive period is not a rest, especially mothers), it’s mid-winter, dark, cold, and resting is totally valid and wise. However, I personally love harnessing that goal-setting energy this time of year and always find motivation to make some changes around what I’m eating and how I move. I also love to make resolutions, though they’re focused on adding things in, rather than restricting or taking away. This year it’s to make it to the climbing wall at least twice a week, to read more classics (Moby Dick has been on my shelf unread for literally the last 20 years 🐋🥴), to start as many mornings as possible in the garden with a cup of tea, and to keep making progress on that radical self-love ✊🏽 - I’ll keep you posted. What is everyone else channelling for 2026?
