Greens vs Blacks got the evening underway with an early 7pm kick-off. Both teams made strong starts, but Greens maintained their lead throughout the match. Blacks managed to get on the scoresheet, but it wasn’t enough to stop Greens from securing the win. The final score was Greens 4 - 1 Blacks.

The two later games kicked off at their usual 8pm start time, delivering plenty of action on both pitches.

In Yellows vs Whites, Whites made a strong start, moving the ball well with plenty of passing and excellent use of space. Some fantastic saves from the keepers helped keep the scoreline down. Yellows managed to find the net once, but Whites came away with the victory. The final whistle brought a score of Yellows 1 - 5 Whites.

On the adjacent pitch, Reds vs Blues saw a depleted Blues side start on the back foot, with the use borrows. Reds continued their winning run, with three of their players also featuring in the top five goal scorers. Blues managed to hit the back of the net, but wasn’t enough to catch the Reds. FootballXL Sheffield - Leisure United Westfield

Week 3 of Sheffield Westfield League.

Greens 7 Yellows 6

In a thrilling, high-scoring contest, Greens narrowly edged out Yellows 7–6 in a 13-goal blockbuster.

The Yellows started the match on the front foot, breaking the deadlock early with a brilliantly worked team goal. Displaying crisp passing and sharp movement, they carved open the Greens' defence to take a well-deserved 1–0 lead.
However, falling behind served as a wake-up call for the Greens. Re-energized, they grew steadily into the game, taking control of midfield and turning up the attacking intensity. A relentless spell saw the Greens r***e home a succession of clinical goals, suddenly turning the tide and putting the Yellows on the back foot.
Just as the Greens looked ready to run away with the tie, a moment of madness added another twist. The Greens' goalkeeper suffered a rush of blood to the head, charging outside the box giving away a penalty which was calmly dispatched.
The intensity didn't drop a notch after the restart. Both teams traded blows in a competitive second half, with the game flowing end-to-end:

The Yellows pushed hard for a late equaliser, but the Greens showed tremendous resilience in the closing minutes, holding firm through high pressure to secure a hard-fought 7–6 victory

Match Two
Blacks 6 Whites 7

n a match defined by passion and relentless intensity, Whites edged out Blacks. Both sides showed an absolute refusal to back down, turning the entire pitch into a battleground. Robust tackles set a fiercely competitive tone early on, with every 50-50 challenge fought for with determination as both teams pushed all-out for the victory.
The game featured moments of individual brilliance, with players carving through compact defenses and producing spectacular solo goals that punctuated the chaos of the physical duels. Every time one side landed a blow, the other responded with immediate counter-attacking fire, keeping the scoreline constantly shifting and the tension at an absolute maximum.
In the end, Whites held their nerve narrowly securing the 7–6 win in a contest where neither team deserved to walk away defeated.

FootballXL Liverpool - Leisure United Jericho Lane Gym and Football

Liverpool, Season 2, Gameweek 1 (06/10/2026):

Greens took on Blacks in our season opener on a dry night as we move into October. Both teams defended well, and the deadlock persisted for a while, before Greens took the league with an instinctive flick to open up scoring. Both keepers were called into action with good saves, before Greens doubled their lead with a great volley from a corner going into half time. Greens extended their lead to 3-0 after the break. However, Blacks mounted a fantastic second half comeback to draw level at 3-3. FT: Greens 3-3 Blacks.

Due to a mass injury crisis, our late kick-off was an improvised 5-a-side game between Yellows and a loosely assembled team of Whites, which ended up having to include myself. As an exceptional circumstance, we were forced to declare this one a forfeit and a 7-0 win to the Yellows. Whites did take an early two goal lead, but Yellows quickly regrouped and assumed control, leading 7-2 at half time. Whites did manage to combine for a couple of nice goals, but the Yellows’ chemistry and firepower in attack proved too much. FT: Yellows 11-5 Whites (official result: Yellows 7-0 Whites)

Mick Berry wasted no time in racking up some goals against the Whites, and tops the chart with 6 goals. He is joined by John Carroll, Karl Hendrickson and Ben Steels-Chambers on 2 goals each.

Week 8 - Season 2

FC Bayern Munching 1 - 2 Samba Snackers
A good solid game to get us underway and Snackers getting the win, though they had to fight through some squeaky time near the end to see it out under sustained Munching pressure.

FC Twente Nuggets 13 - 0 Piggy Blinders
I say this a lot in these write ups but honestly, this scoreline doesn’t fully explain the game. An amazing goalkeeping performance (from both keepers actually) and some ridiculous finishing gave us a great game to watch.

Man Chippy 2 - 0 Diabetico Madrid
The season came down to an early title decider and it showed on the pitch as it was no holds barred, end to end beast of a game with football played at a frenetic pace! A mega unlucky own goal sealing the points and the title.
Congrats to Chippy as they become our second team to stick a star on their badge

Fc Twente Nuggets v Diabetico Madrid

FootballXL Sheffield - Leisure United Westfield

Our 2nd week of the Sheffield League gave us two games full of goals.

Blacks vs Yellows

A clinical, high-scoring performance from Blacks secured an impressive 8–0 victory over Yellows at Westfield. Yellows set a determined early tone when their goalkeeper pulled off a brilliant, brave save in the third minute to keep Blacks at bay. However, Blacks quickly broke the deadlock shortly after and capitalized on relentless momentum, scoring in rapid succession to stretch the lead to 3–0.
The goal of the match arrived soon after as Blacks added a fourth with a gorgeous, perfectly placed header that gave the keeper no chance. Pushing hard before the whistle, Blacks notched their fifth to take a commanding 5–0 lead into the break. They maintained control throughout the second half, adding three more goals without reply to wrap up a dominant victory.
Despite the heavy scoreline, Yellows demonstrated admirable spirit and continued to play quality, intricate passing football throughout the entire contest.

Greens vs Whites

A thrilling, end-to-end clash ended in an emphatic 7–2 victory for Greens over Whites. Despite an evenly fought opening period, Greens were far more clinical in front of goal, taking a comfortable 3–0 lead into half-time. Whites threw everything into the second half and sparked a potential comeback with a stunning individual solo goal, but Greens immediately hit back with a breathtaking "Prime Barcelona" team goal- working the ball fluidly from defense through midfield for a composed side-foot finish.
Whites refused to back down, cutting the deficit to 4–2 with a lovely through-ball and a calm finish rounding the keeper. Their goalkeeper produced a heroic second-half performance, throwing his body on the line like a human wall to keep his side in the tie. However, Greens delivered an instant reply to make it 5–2 before stepping up into top gear during the final five minutes. Relentless pressure saw Greens add two late goals to seal a commanding win.
While the final scoreline favored Greens', Whites contributed to a fantastic game of football, defined by brave goalkeeping and two high-quality goals

Well done to all 4 teams for playing such entertaining football.

Also a special shout out to Colin Stewart⁩. Colin is one of our more senior players and his team wanted to commend him on his performance this week. Greens Captain said "Colin - absoulte rock all over the pitch today. Solid and dependable allowing others to be a bit more attacking. Great link up play and awesome to help see out the game for a win" 👏⚽️
