Did you know it takes dogs 72 hours, yes three whole days to come back to a healthy low level of stress.
We have most likely all heard of trigger stacking, when a series of events creates negative emotions leading us to find it difficult to regulate our emotions as our stress levels are too high.
Trigger stacking is much the same in dogs and humans, but, and this is the key thing to remember, while humans can take as little as a few hours to decompress given the right circumstances (and it's not major trauma), dogs take 72 hours, yes three whole days to come back to a healthy low level of stress.
If more time has passed between each event, the decompression cycle starts and allows the stress levels to lower more before the next event.
