👇🏻This couldn’t be more accurate right now👇🏻
My cancer was strongly oestrogen receptor positive, meaning oestrogen could encourage hormone-sensitive cancer cells to grow. So I’ve been prescribed anastrozole, which reduces the amount of oestrogen my body makes.
Apparently surgical menopause and having no ovaries wasn’t quite enough… we’re going for absolute bare minimum oestrogen 😂
And I’m going to be honest — it sucks!
The aches, stiffness, sore hips and legs, aching shoulders, finger cramps and tiredness. I’m 37, but I feel a lot older 👵🏻 I MISS HRT!
Last weekend I spoke to an amazing lady who is also taking anastrozole, and I didn’t realise how much I needed that conversation. Just hearing someone else describe the same side effects and say “Yep, me too” made such a difference.
Cancer treatment doesn’t always finish when the surgery is over and the wounds have healed. Sometimes it carries on quietly, one tiny tablet at a time.
I want to do everything I reasonably can to stop my cancer coming back — but I also reserve the right to complain about it occasionally 😂
Because quite frankly… cancer is s**t, and oestrogen and I are currently in a very complicated relationship 🙄😂
