As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to an end, this year’s theme of taking action feels more important than ever.

Sometimes action looks big and brave. Sometimes it is simply getting out of bed.Sending the message. Making the appointment. Taking a breath before reacting. Allowing yourself to rest. Saying “I’m struggling” instead of pretending you’re fine.

Mental health is not about perfection. It is about support, awareness, connection, and giving ourselves permission to move forward one step at a time. I’ve been working with clients this week on exactly this, I’m not here to “cure” you. Life is not perfect and I’m real about that.

As a hypnotherapist, I see how powerful small changes can become when someone finally feels heard, safe, and supported. Real change often begins quietly.

So as this week closes, perhaps ask yourself:

What is one small action I can take for my wellbeing this week?

You do not have to do everything at once. Small steps still count.

If anxiety is starting to build, gently bring your focus back to your breathing.
Try this:
Breathe in slowly for 4
Hold for 4
Breathe out for 6
Longer out breaths can help signal safety and calm to the mind and body. Even just one minute can make a difference. You can spare yourself that can’t you?

I couldn’t resist a photo with Paddington 😊 I love being a big kid! But it also reminded me of something important…We don’t stop needing comfort just because we grow up.
So many of the fears, worries, and patterns we carry as adults started much earlier in life. It’s something I see so often in my therapy room. Sometimes, what we really need…
is to feel safe, supported, and understood.
And from there, everything else becomes possible

Easter Monday isn’t just about chocolate and a day off. (Well actually it is about the chocolate! 😜)
