Scalp micro pigmentation is a great way to help cover hair thinning or bald spots in both men and women. If you’re put off by the thought that it will look weird when you’re grey, do not fret! The ink used fades gradually over 5-6 years to combat this. Annmarie is a very experienced and meticulous local tattoo artist. Please note she does not offer cosmetic tattooing other than specialising in scalp micropigmentation.

Welcome to SMP by Annmarie. I am now offering scalp micro pigmentation services from Portland street tattoo in Troon. For the next 3 months all treatments will be discounted as part of my new introductory rate. If you would like to enquire or arrange a consultation then drop me a wee private message. Please share and tell your balding friends and family 🫶

Healthcare Improvement Scotland have all clinics audit infection control measures annually and take action where appropriate to ensure standards remain high.

Every year I audit who attends for facial injections wearing make-up. This spring I audited three months and, disappointingly, 16% of you have come in for an injectable treatment wearing make-up. Some procedures are more high risk than others but all injectables carry some risk. The Clinisept I use as skin prep is an antibacterial but it is NOT a make up remover. I can only do a rush job when you’re in my chair and some of your faces were not easy to clean.

HIS will expect to see evidence of measures to address this at inspection.⁣ I cannot let it go unchecked if I want to keep my registration.

You are asked to attend without make-up. It’s for your own safety. Please take a minute to remove your make up before coming in. Pushing dirty molecules of clogged make up into your muscles isn’t in my job description! ⁣

I will be asking those with make up on to remove it before we start from now on while I sit and silently stare through your soul. ⁣

On a more serious note…I’m not cutting patient safety corners because you didn’t take your face off. Would you go for your smear test without a shower? Would you go to the dentist without brushing your teeth? ⁣

Didn’t think so! ⁣Please prepare.
Stop it!

You won’t know for certain if you need anything tweaked until 2 weeks. Any undesirable side effects can also take 2 weeks to show up. This is the reason why I don’t advise you go on holiday until after this time. I also won’t do any tweaks after the 3.5/4 week mark and I won’t chase every single wee line you might have left. Some of those wee lines need to stay if you don’t want your brows to look flat and angry. The most common brow dropping issues I see are from people over zealously chasing a perfectly smooth forehead. Let’s say it again one more time….Social media filters are not real life.

Let’s talk about perioral rejuvenation in mature skin. I am fairly strict (shock, eh?!) about how I approach this area. I see this area often looking bulky and ‘done’ in mature patients. Y’know that heaviness in the upper lip that just doesn’t quite look right? I want to avoid that. ⁣

I am happy to strengthen the border and corners of the mouth with a robust filler. I’m also happy to go into some of the lines with a softer filler and a skin booster. ⁣

I won’t try to eliminate these lines. Not even close. Softening them ONLY is the aim. Just a small improvement. I also often won’t treat them again until at least a year has passed and seldom treat them more than twice in the space of 5 years. The best way to get a marked improvement in perioral lines is laser resurfacing. It’s expensive but it’s worth it.⁣

Don’t make do just because you want a quick dopamine fix. If filler isn’t quite doing what you want it to, it’s very likely you need multi modality treatment rather than just putting more filler in. You continue to age biologically as time goes by regardless of treatment. It’s inevitable and a privilege many people don’t get. Don’t always see aging as the enemy. Stay subtle and fresh, yes but don’t chase youth to the extent that you look strange and distorted. Embrace some aspects of it and find comfort in the wisdom and experiences age brings. My best friend died of breast cancer at age 38. She was full of life and had so much yet to accomplish. She didn’t get the chance to age. She was laid to rest in the wedding dress she didn’t get a chance to wear.⁣

Do it for her and all the other women like her. You’re beautiful. Good skincare, good hydration, daily SPF and no alcohol will carry you further than you think. You just need to put the effort in and not chase a quick fix. Do it for future you.

I’m closing my diary to consultation appointments until August. I’m on reduced hours June and July and I’m already struggling to get regulars in for their treatments. I don’t want to worry about that alongside everything else going on outwith work so all advice and consult appointments can wait till August. Many times at consult I end up not charging as 70% of the time injectables aren’t going to help. It needs to be on the back burner for 2 months.⁣

I’ll still be taking on new patients for treatments though but there will be at least a 2 week wait and a deposit will be taken. I’m hardly off sick and I haven’t had a holiday in 6 years so this time I’m creating some boundaries to make life a bit easier for me to manage. I’ll also be sticking rigidly to my t&c regarding cancelling/rescheduling too.⁣

My regulars that have been with me for years are my bread and butter. I will prioritise them over the next 2 months. One thing that’s always pi**ed me off is broadband/TV companies etc that offer crazy prices to entice new customers but do nothing for their existing customers 😂 ⁣

Not on my watch. Thanks for understanding.
First available is 11 June at the moment.

My Summer skin protection top tips!⁣

1. Body SPF. Pick factor 30 for daily use and factor 50 for prolonged sun exposure. Always pick a UVA filter sunscreen of 4 stars or more for better protection. Reapply every few hours. ⁣

2. Sweat control. Mitchum is a powerful antiperspirant, perfect for summer heat. It’s worth changing up your deodorant in summer to ensure long lasting protection. Note: Mitchum had a batch recall recently due to skin reactions so it’s worth checking any purchase against the recalled batches. ⁣

3. Medical sweat control. Driclor is a medical grade sweat treatment for hyperhidrosis. It works by blocking the sweat glands. It’s better applied at night when the sweat glands are less active to give it time to form the barrier overnight. We also offer injectable treatment to control hyperhidrosis long term. ⁣

4. All over antiperspirant. Designed for intimate areas, skin folds and underboob without drying or causing irritation. ⁣

5. SPF moisturiser. Hydrate and protect all in one. This Dermalogica one is light and non greasy and offers excellent protection. It smells lush too. ⁣

6. SPF Primer. This ZO SPF 30 acts as a primer for skin and reduces blemishes while evening out complexion. I often go without make up when I use this as it makes my skin look so good.⁣

7. Hair sun protection. Something most of us forget about. Healthy scalp skin is essential for healthy hair follicles. Protect your hair colour from fading with this Malibu spf too. It’s light and non greasy compared to others out there.⁣

8. Lip sun protection. Again, something most of us forget about. Lip skin is fragile and prone to sun damage. If you get cold sores, guaranteed the sun breaks them out. Hydrate and protect lips in the sun and they will stay pink and healthy.
