Let’s be honest: nobody sleeps perfectly every single night. I’ll admit I have my off nights too! Thankfully, most of the time I sleep great (perks of knowing the tricks of the trade!).

But a couple of years ago? I was dragging myself through every single day. Exhausted didn’t even begin to cover it. I was ready to book a GP appointment until it hit me: I never actually let myself rest. I was always on the go.

I felt this constant pressure to be productive. As a single mum co-parenting two neurodiverse girls riding the hormone wave (while I’m riding my own wave at the other end of the spectrum! 🤦🏼‍♀️), running my business solo, and managing the house alone... I was doing too much. Long workdays when the girls were with their dad, working late evenings when they were with me, and weekends spent in a flurry of “to-do list ticking.”

I was shattered. I wasn’t being fair to myself or my kids. It felt like I was trying to prove a point... but to who?

So, I changed the rules. No more evening work when the girls are home. I block out daily time for walks or exercise. And that perpetual to-do list? I don’t beat myself up if I only cross off one or two things a week.

These days, Easy Sleep HQ is all about boundaries and priorities. I might be a super human, but I am not Superhuman. I need to rest to be my best.

Ever heard of ‘Social Jet Lag?’

When we drastically shift our sleep schedule over the weekend, it tricks our body clock into thinking we’ve changed timezones. No wonder Monday mornings feel tough!

The Easy Fix: Try to keep you wake up time on days off within an hour of your wake up time for work/school/college. Your Monday self will thank you.

Friendly Friday reminder: Resting isn’t lazy, it’s essential.

If your weekend plans look a lot more like the right side of this image than the left, don’t beat yourself up! After a long week, your body knows exactly what it needs, and sometimes that’s just some low-energy downtime.

While we are all about zero judgment here, our best sleep tip is to try and resist that snooze button. If you can, wake up at your usual time to keep your body clock ticking along nicely, even if your “l’commute’ is just moving from the bed straight to the sofa!

Since the UK weather is supposed to be absolutely glorious this weekend, why not take your morning coffee or tea outside for a bit? (Yes, sitting in your PJs still counts!). ☀️

Enjoy the sofa, enjoy the snacks, and give yourself permission to recharge completely guilt-free. Happy Friday!

Let’s get real, my car’s a mess.

But with school runs starting at 7:45 and the girls waking up between 7:00-7:20, it’s either crumbs in the car or tired kids. I’ve chosen crumbs.

And honestly, vacuuming the car for 5 minutes on Fridays is a small price to pay for not messing with their natural sleep schedule.
