Every year, we check the electoral register is up to date so that everyone who has the right to vote in upcoming elections can have their say.

SCAM ALERT: We are aware of people receiving phone calls claiming to be from Sussex Police.

The scammers may be pretending to use our 101 number to make the calls appear to be genuine, using ‘spoofing’ software to hide their real number and caller IDs.

It follows similar calls being made and warnings issued by our partners at Kent Police and Surrey Police in recent weeks.

Criminals do this to make it appear that calls or text messages are coming from a trusted organisation like the police, banks or government agencies.

These scam calls may be automated, or from a real person. Their main goal is to trick you into sharing personal information or to transfer money.

🚫 A police officer will never call out of the blue asking for personal information, including bank account details 🚨
🚫 A police officer will never ask you to withdraw money or purchase high value items as part of an investigation 🚨

We urge anyone who has received a suspicious call from someone attempting to gain their personal details and claiming to be from Sussex Police to report it to us online, or call 999 in an emergency.

Welcome to Organ Donation Week!

Between 21st - 27th September we'll be sharing stories of people whose lives have been saved by organ donation, and the donor families and living donors who have made the decision to donate.

We need your help to spread the word - there are currently more than 8,700 people waiting for an organ and deceased donation rates are in decline. Every week nine people die waiting for an organ.

So, how can you help?

Family consent rates have fallen from 67% in 2020/21 to 57% last year, but we know that families support donation 90% of the time when they know their loved one’s decision, compared with around 50% when no decision is known.

We are calling on one million people who have never registered before to confirm their organ donation decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register this year. It takes just two minutes to register, and each donor can potentially save up to nine lives.

Every day, opportunities to save lives are lost because organ donation decisions aren’t known.

With the Bank Holiday coming up, it's a good time to check you have enough of any essential medications to get you through the long weekend, when GP surgeries will be closed.
