A clients first thing today, before they go away on holiday tomorrow and now busy sterilising my instruments!

Why cleaning and sterilisation is important:

🦶 Preventing Cross-Contamination:

Treatments frequently involve cutting nails, removing calluses, corns, verrucas and on occasions dealing with open wounds.

Using unsterilised instruments can easily transfer bacteria, fungi, and viruses from one patient to another.

🦶 Controlling Fungal Infections:

Fungal spores are highly resilient and without proper decontamination, reusable tools can spread persistent infections like athlete's foot or fungal toenails

🦶 I have a duty to keep my clients and myself safe!

Instant relief 😮‍💨 an ingrowing nail can be painful.

5 things to avoid if you have an ingrowing toenail:

1: Cutting your ingrowing toenail yourself

could worsen the problem or trigger infection and increase the likelihood of it becoming ingrown again in the future.

2: Engaging in physical activity

avoid physical activity like running that would place extra pressure on your feet and toes. This increases the pain and discomfort you’re already feeling.

3: Ignoring clear signs of infection

If you’ve noticed any obvious pus, redness, or swelling, your ingrown toenail is very likely infected.

4: Picking at the toenail

Picking, tearing, or gouging at the nail or surrounding skin can not only leave sharp edges of nail behind, it can introduce bacteria to the area and contribute to the onset of infection.

5: Wearing tight or too-small shoes

place excessive pressure on your toes can contribute to painful ingrown toenail symptoms.

Spent hours at the gym or walking around in sweaty socks? You could be at risk for athlete’s foot – one of the most common fungal infections!

If you already have it, don’t ignore it! Otherwise, the fungus might spread or get worse!

But don’t worry – most cases of athlete’s foot can be treated with over-the-counter antifungal creams.
