So, what am I doing here? - not in a deep, existential kind of way, more why do I post?

What am I actually hoping this little corner of the internet can be?...

Honestly? A bit of all sorts really...

I share bits of my own journey because life isn't exactly a straight road

There are ups, downs, roundabouts,
Bambi-on-ice moments,
rabbit-in-the-headlights moments,
and plenty of “well, I didn't see THAT coming” moments

And I reckon we're all navigating our own version of it

I'd love this to be a place where you can pop in &

Grab a virtual cuppa
Pause for a minute or two
Have a laugh or a little giggle
See something that makes you think
Notice something you hadn't noticed before
Get an idea or a bit of inspiration
Maybe consider a different way of looking at something

And, hopefully, sometimes feel a little less alone

Because one of the things I really care about is becoming more aware of our own energy

Not in a “lets close eyes, sit cross legged & float off into the ether” kind of way

- Just noticing how we're feeling
What affects us
What leaves us feeling more like ourselves…
And what doesn't

Real life
Real people
Real ups and downs

And of course I'm figuring things out too, so I'm not here pretending I've got all the answers

Just sharing what I'm noticing along the way

So that's what I'm hoping this little corner of the internet can be

A friendly, honest place to stop for a moment, have a cuppa, a ponder, & maybe, hopefully, take something useful away with you

So
Thanks for popping by
I look forward to seeing you again soon x

Fancy a little weekend experiment?

Next time you put your phone down after you've been scrolling

Just pause

And notice

How do you feel?

Lighter?
Heavier?
Calmer?
Irritated?
Energised?
Drained?

You don't need to change anything
You don't need to stop scrolling

Just notice what you notice

Because sometimes we don't realise what something is doing to us until we step back & give ourselves a little space from it

Let me know what you notice

I've been thinking about my no-internet day, & more to the point, how it felt to be free from my phone

I am an information hoover - I love learning new things & I'm very easily sidetracked 👀 & so I often find myself scrolling & scrolling (& scrolling) for the next thing I just NEED to know

And I know I'm not alone because everywhere we look, we see phones glued to hands, eyes glued to screens

The thing is
Every time we pick up our phone, we're letting something in...

We scroll through
Joy
Sadness
Anger
Fear
Envy
Frustration
Excitement
Someone else's bad day
Someone else's perfect life...

We see things we wouldn't choose to think about

We hear opinions we never asked for

We compare ourselves with someone else's carefully selected moments...

We're continually taking in emotional information without noticing the effect it's having on us

Our nervous system just isn't designed to be processing so many emotions all at once

And I think that's why my no-internet day felt so good

It was a whole day where I got to be just me

A whole day spent in my own energy, my own thoughts, & my own emotions

And don't get me wrong
I'm definitely not anti-technology

But I am glad I got to notice

What do you think?
When did phones move away from being a way to keep in touch with someone to something we can't bear to be without?
Are we in charge of our technology or are we losing control a little & dare I say- becoming addicted?
(No judgement, genuinely interested in your thoughts)

I'm definitely going to be actively spending more time away from my phone & in my own energy

How about you?
Do you feel surgically attached to your phone?

So the other week Sky cut our broadband because we hadn't paid the bill

The thing is
We decided against the payment as we have been in dispute with them since transferring to them in January (receiving less than half the speed, to only half the house) so we made the decision that enough was enough

Was it inconvenient? - Initially, yes

BUT

Instead of wasting time, scrolling & absorbing stuff that, let's face it, no-one really needs to see

I put on a record (or few)
I cleaned the house
I got the washing done
I sang
I danced
I read

AND I FELT THE BEST I'D FELT IN A LONG WHILE

My other half rang BT in the morning, & we were up, running, & fully connected by the following afternoon. A day & a half for something Sky had failed to achieve in 8 months!

Now don't get me wrong, I'm glad we have full internet again & it is something we unfortunately can't really be without for long nowadays

But that full day of disconnecting from it all made me realise not only
how much it takes over our everyday lives
but also
how much healthier & happier I felt from just a single day away from it

Would I recommend Sky for broadband?
- Nope

Would I recommend BT?
- So far, yes

Would I wholeheartedly recommend regularly spending time away from our devices?
- 1000% YES! YES! YES!

What about you?
How tied do you feel to your devices?
Would you consider a few hours without?

As it's September, it feels like I should get a bit "back-to-school-y" & business-like but the thing is

Almost 12 months of noise & mess from a new neighbour (a factory now operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including bank holidays)

7 months of our new broadband provider providing less than half the speed we signed up for, to only half the house

Having to stop taking HRT & now riding ba****ck, full speed, no reins, & blindfolded, on the menopause bucking bronco

- Have all left me jaded, frustrated, & exhausted.
All the excitement, motivation, & momentum I'd created around offering energy healing sessions has been lost as I've had no peaceful space or reliable internet connection to work with 😞

And so
Here I am
Not the practising energy healing practitioner I'd hoped
But here I am nonetheless

I guess life would be very dull if it was all just plain sailing... ⛵

So this is where we're at
I hope you'll hang around & find some of my posts helpful, uplifting, or amusing
Or, even better, helpful, uplifting, AND amusing 😁

And if you pop back on Wednesday, I'll be sharing an unexpected bonus to the rubbish internet malarkey

See you soon x

Yorkshire Sunday morning vibes...

One minute, just for you

🎧 Sound on (soft, comfortable, not too loud)
Get comfy & listen to the sounds of nature

And if you'd like to go a little deeper...

A nice, steady breath in through the nose
(as deep as feels comfortable)
Pause slightly before you breathe out
Exhale through the mouth
(Try to make this longer than your in-breath)

This minute is yours
There's nothing else you need to do just now
There's nowhere else you need to be

Play around with what breathing pattern feels most comfortable for you

Then

Just listen
Just breathe
Just relax into this minute- it's all yours

Notice how you feel afterwards, compared to how you felt beforehand

Repeat as required

It's been an up-and-down kind of week (actually maybe more of a down-up-downish-up-up kind of week)Some rubbish bitsSome...

It's been an up-and-down kind of week
(actually maybe more of a down-up-downish-up-up kind of week)

Some rubbish bits
Some really rubbish bits
Some average bits
Some good bits
Some really great bits

All in no particular order

But the thing is
In the grand scheme of things
Those "bits" don't last too long

So hold onto those good bits
Let the more rubbish bits go

And remember

If we never experience the rubbish bits
We'd never be able to appreciate the good bits!

Oooops
I did it again! 🫣
Where's Brittany when you need her? 😂

What can I say...
Same charity shop
They twinkled at me.. I couldn't just leave them there!

I'm an absolute sucker for a sparkly 💎✨

And anyway
If it makes you smile, it's healthy!

What's your go-to that always cheers you up?

Pinch, punch, first of the month...
Welcome, September
Welcome, autumn
I've missed you

September has arrived & is looking, well, a bit autumnal, if I'm honest
Bright then cloudy
Warm then chilly
Sunshine then breezy...

Kind of like a season that doesn't quite know what it is, how it feels, what it's meant to be...

And I can totally identify with that just now 😂

Autumn is a time of shifts, changes, transitions...
Gently releasing the old, the worn out, the heavy
But at the same time, clearing the way & casting the seeds for bountiful new times ahead

We can learn a lot by taking a leaf from the book of autumn (no pun intended)

When you've been feeling a bit pants

A period of physical unwellness can get you down & bring down your mental wellness

A period of mental unwellness can leave you physically exhausted & unwell too

And often it can feel like this will last forever, which can lead to feeling even worse, stuck, not knowing how to get out of the spiral

I do not tolerate exercise well but I was fortunate to stumble across Kundalini yoga a number of years ago & quickly realised that this was the one for me

It's been far too long since I last practised Kundalini. Last night my unhelpfully un-sleepy brain reminded me of that, & so this morning, here we are 🙏🧘

For once, thank you, brain, for throwing seemingly random things into my head at silly-O'clock in the morning. A lot of funky energy shifted & feeling much better

I'm not here telling you, "You must start practising kundalini" or any other type of yoga for that matter

What I am saying is

If you can find YOUR thing that you enjoy, & blasts away some of that funky energy

Try to remember to do it
Before your brain keeps you awake to tell you

It's worth its weight in gold! 🪎
