We are deeply saddened by the passing of our founder, Bob Lilley.

Bob was a kind, generous man who made it his life's work serving the public, including dedicating almost ten years to the CFRs, attending thousands of 999 calls to help people in need and installing over 30 defibrillators across the area, leaving a lasting legacy of life-saving devices to help people in future. He spent many more years raising funds for good causes via the Lions Club.

Our thoughts are with Bob's wife Susan and his family, who he adored.

We've put funeral details in the comments and any CFRs or EMAS staff are welcome to attend in uniform to pay their respects to Bob, if they wish.

Last week I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing Mike, one of our former members of the team who gave many years service. Mike said

"My healthcare journey started with Shepshed CFR group and now I'm a full time front line Ambulance Practitioner.
"This is all thanks to Shepshed Community Responder group, please support them for the great work they do."

Our staff and volunteers are working immensely hard to help those who are critically unwell and need our life-saving services.

Please only dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency.

Going to hospital via ambulance will not mean you’re seen any quicker when you get there, but could mean an ambulance isn’t available for someone who needs our life-saving care.

Following a grant received earlier this year, we're now looking for a location to install a new community defibrillator.

We received the grant based on a vote by the community, so we'd like to open up nominations as to where we put the new defibrillator!

Put your suggestions in the comments below 👇 we'll take a look through them and see where may work.

Ideally, we'd like it in a popular spot where there is no community defib currently available, and we're looking at somewhere in Shepshed, Loughborough or the surrounding area.

We are thrilled to share that we were awarded £1500 thanks to our incredible community and the Tesco Stronger Starts project.

You kindly voted us into first place with some fantastic other projects in the running.

The money will go to a brand new defibrillator in the area as well as keeping some of our other community defibrillators rescue ready with new pads and batteries.

Huge thanks to everyone who voted for us with the blue tokens earlier in the year!

We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who makes what we do possible this Volunteers' Week.

It was a pleasure to present Bill with his Coronation Medal yesterday evening. Bill is the longest serving active member of our team, with over 10 years' service volunteering for the ambulance - on top of a long and successful career as a police officer.

Thank you Bill! 👏
