Young People’s Survey 2026 is now live until 20th July

We are giving every Year 9 student across Kirklees the chance to tell us about your experiences in order to find out what some of the big issues are for young people of your age. We really want to understand how you're feeling, what you're doing, what you think of the support you get and the place you live. Your comments will help schools, Kirklees Council and other organisations we work with to decide what to do to make sure you have the best chance for a happy, healthy life.

Hot Weather Advice and Water Safety
Learning to stay safe in, on, and around water is essential for everyone, especially during hot weather when high temperatures can increase the temptation to cool off in rivers, canals, lakes, and reservoirs despite their hidden dangers.

Drowning deaths among 13-17-year-olds have increased an alarming 67% between 2020-2022 and 2023-2025.

Sadly there have been several children who have passed away in the past few days.

Please don’t be tempted to go into open waters!

Do not be tempted to enter open water to cool down.

Even in high summer, waters across the UK remain cold enough to trigger cold shock. This can cause rapid breathing and reduced muscle control, making it much harder to swim safely.

Stay Safe. And, if you see someone in trouble in the water, make the right call - call 999! 📲
