Great to see this report acknowledging how people can benefit from Complementary Alternative Medicines (CAMs) through integrated healthcare.
The survey focussed on one simple question “What makes you feel well?”
Massage came out on top 🙌🏻

Professor Sir Sam Everington, Co-Chair of the College of Medicine said:
“The best outcomes for patients are delivered when the focus is on what matters to them and when they are allowed to take the lead. We call this personal medicine, a blend of traditional bio-medicine and alternatives which focuses on the simple question: what makes you well? - physically, mentally and socially. Patients tell us that CAMs play a really important part in this balance.”

Dr Naveed Akhtar, chairman of the Integrated Medicine Alliance, said:
"While professional debate has remained polarised, the public has quietly made its choice. Complementary therapies are already helping large numbers of people and easing pressure on the NHS.”

Thanks to a lovely client for my flowers today. Hugely appreciated 🙏🏻 💐

Improving her pain free range of joint movement over the last few months has been a challenge. It was never going to be a quick fix. But she’s been steadfast in her rehab between appointments and it shows in the incremental improvements we’re seeing on each treatment.
I genuinely think she now knows as much about shoulder muscles and their function as I do! 💪🏻 anatomy geeks that we are 🤓 😂

My “additional” job over the next week is marking our students written exam papers 📝 🤓
Whilst it’s time consuming, it’s also a pleasure reading their essays and acknowledging just how much they’ve learned over the last 18 months since starting their anatomical learning journey.

Being able to assess clients mobility and create an effective massage treatment plan is a skill we spend a lot of time teaching at Western School of Massage so we know the “future clients” of these students will be in safe hands 🙌🏻
